Peace is wishing on a star. So how many of you tonight are going to look at the sky and
make a big wish when you see a star? What are you going to wish for? Are you going to
tell me what you're going to wish for? This young lady is going to wish health and peace
for her family? Aww, that's a really good wish. Round of applause for that wish. I would
like to introduce Deputy Chief of Staff Eric Waldo and friends! I'm Eric Waldo, I'm Deputy
Chief of Staff, and I'd like to welcome you all to this Let's Read, Let's Move event!
We have some good friends here today. We have, right here, Robert Velasco. He's the head,
he runs an agency that helps do community service and put on events like this. He's
helped us today so we're excited for him to be here. We have Maya Soetoro-Ng. She's a
teacher, she's actually going to be teaching a class this fall at a university. She happens
to be brothers with the President of the United States, Barack Obama. Do you guys remember
Barack Obama? Yeah! Yes! Next to Maya we have our good friend Spike Mendelsohn. Spike is
a chef. He owns restaurants where they make pizza and they make hamburgers. And we got
our good friend Chris Draft over here. He played football last year for the Washington
Redskins. Do we love the Redskins? Yeah! Let's bring it down and we're going to read a great
book. It's going to be called The Peace Book. So let's sit down and let's go ahead and read.
Peace is keeping the water blue for all the fish. Peace is listening to different kinds
of music. How many of you enjoy listening to different kinds of music? Excellent. Peace
is giving shoes to someone who needs them. And it looks like this caterpillar needs a
lot of shoes. [Laughter.] Peace is watching it snow. Peace is keeping the streets clean.
You folks don't litter, do you? No way. Peace is offering a hug to a friend. Why don't you
turn around and give your friend a hug? Peace is having enough pizza in the world for everyone.
Whoa. Who likes pizza? Me! Me! Yeah! Peace is traveling to different places. How many
of you have traveled on a camel before? Not yet? There's plenty of time, plenty of time.
Peace is being different, feeling good about yourself, and helping others. The world is
a better place because of you. We gotta get you guys excited! Because we gotta get a little
movement in, and we can't have like, I'm sitting down, I'm not really going to do anything,
oh this, that, and the other? That's not going to work. You guys are going to get up. We're
going to get excited. And we're gonna move. Are you guys ready for that? Yeah! I wanna
here you guys say Let's Move!. Let's Move! [Sounds of kids playing.] Come on! Come on,
where's our ball?
