Washer Repair- Replacing the Pump Belt (Whirlpool Part #211124)

Steve: Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect. Today, we’re going to show you how to change the
pump belt on your washer. It’s a really easy job. All we’re going to need is a Philips
screw driver or a putty knife. Let me show how it’s done.
Now the first step in this repair will be to disconnect the power, and simply pull the
plug and we’re ready to begin. Now depending on the age of your washer the front panel
may be held on with two pozi drive screws located here and here, which you would remove
with a Philip screw driver. And on the later models there was two spring clips on the bottom.
So we’ll take the putty knife, we’ll insert couple of inches up from the base in between
the front panel and the cabinet, just pry upward, do the same on the opposite side,
and we’ll tilt the front panel, now to release the two clips on the top, you can set that
aside. Now our pump belt runs just beneath the base here at the front between motor pulley
and the pump, we can simply reach in and roll that belt off of the pulleys, and remove it.
We'll install the new one exactly the same manner, you can roll it around either pulley
doesn’t matter which one. You can push the motor forward to release the tension on it,
and roll it around the motor pulley. Now to check the adjustment on it, and it should
not require any adjustment that we would hold the motor back reach in take the both sides
of the belt, we’re going to try to pull them together and it should be about a quarter
minute apart before you see the motor start to move.
Essentially, what we’re doing is we’re squeezing up belt, it should be about that
fair apart before the motor starts to pull forward, belt meant be on the very loose,
why you have that off, you may want to check the dryer belt ensure that its in good shape,
if not change it at the same time, we’ll be looking for any glazing of the fabric covered
belt. Now we’ll replace the front panel, we tilt it down on the bottom, hock the two
springs clips into the top, make sure line at straight, position it back in place and
we’re done.
That just how easy it is to the change pump belt on your washer. Thanks for watching,
good luck with your repair.
