Hi I'm Nick and welcome to One Minute Six Pack. Today’s video is about which fruits
to buy organic, and which vegetables to buy organic. The truth about eating fruits and
vegetables is that the ones grown conventionally are loaded with pesticide residues. Pesticides
are chemicals such as herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. These nasty chemicals are
damaging to your health, and actually contribute to weight gain and obesity.
Fortunately, there’s an easy way to reduce your pesticide exposure. The trick is to know
which produce to buy organic, and which ones are okay to buy without the organic label.
According to the Environmental Working Group, these 14 fruits and veggies are the highest
in pesticide residue, and therefore should be bought as organic: (1) Apples, (2) Celery,
(3) Sweet bell peppers, (4) Peaches, (5) Strawberries, (6) Imported nectarines, (7) Grapes, (8) Spinach,
(9) Lettuce, (10) Cucumbers, (11) Domestic Blueberries, (12) Potatoes, (13) Green beans,
and (14) Kale.
On the other hand, these next 15 fruits and vegetables have the lowest pesticide content,
and therefore safe to eat without being organic: (1) Onions, (2) Sweet corn, (3) Pineapples,
(4) Avocados, (5) Cabbage, (6) Sweet peas, (7) Asparagus, (8) Mangoes, (9) Eggplant,
(10) Kiwi, (11) Domestic Cantaloupe, (12) Sweet potatoes, (13) Grapefruit, (14) Watermelon,
and (15) Mushrooms. I hope these lists help you the next time you’re deciding whether
or not to buy organic. That's all for today's video. For more organic food facts, click
