Adjusting your computer’s sleep settings is an easy way to save energy and stop wasting
money.
With Windows Vista or Windows 7, start by opening up the Control Panel from the Start
menu. Click on “Hardware and Sound” followed by “Change Power-Saving Settings”.
A good first step is to select the “Power Saver plan”. You can customize this plan
by selecting “Change plan settings”. I’m going to set my computer to sleep after 10
minutes of inactivity. Now I’ll save my changes.
Remember, in sleep mode your computer will retain all of its data. When you wake the
computer up, you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off. The only thing you’ll
get rid of is energy waste.
