Now we're going to talk about the back up dribble. The back up dribble is just that,
backing up. We're going to use that particular dribble when we run into problems possibly.
One place where you're going to see it used quite a bit is when there's a trap situation
where your defenders are coming up and you've got 2, maybe even 3 people, coming up to steal
the ball away from you. That's why we always keep our head up so that we can look at the
floor, see what's out ahead of us, see what's going on and clearly. If we dribble towards
a corner or even in the middle of the court and the defenders come up, what we're going
to do is we're going to use the back up dribble to get our of trouble. When we do that, we're
simply stopping, pushing back. What we want to do is defend against that defender and
opponent using our arm and our body, turning our body a little bit more and bringing the
ball back. If they're moving this way, we're kind of moving that way. Keep the ball away
from them and here's the back up dribble.
