Baking Old Fashioned Gingerbread : Rolling & Cutting Dough for a Gingerbread Recipe

My name is Brandon Sarkis, on behalf of Expert Village. Today, I'm going to show you how
to make gingerbread. I don't want to use all of this at once, so I'm just going to take
my spatula. I don't want to use a knife on my pan, because I'll mess my pan up. I'm just
going to go right down the middle of the pan, like that. You can just lift underneath here,
and pick this whole piece up. It should come out pretty easily, just like that. Now we
can set this piece to the side, and we can work on it more later. In the meantime though,
we have this piece here that we're going to cut some shapes out of. In my case, I'm going
to cut some little gingerbread men out of it, and for gender equality sake, I've got
a gingerbread man and a gingerbread woman, so we're going to cut them both out. You can
actually just leave all your dough right here in the pan, cut straight through, pick that
piece up, and we're going to try to get as many as we can on here; let's say four, five.
We'll make sure we do equal amounts of each one. Make sure you press down nice on the
edges. You can probably get one over here, maybe. Yeah, that will work. Give them a little
wiggle to cut through. Now all you do is just pick up your dough from around your little
gingerbread people. It should just come right up, you don't even have to move these now, and
you can just bake them up just like that. You would just take this dough, and keep repeating
the process until you had a whole army of gingerbread people. Let's put these in the
oven for about eight to ten minutes, depending on your oven. Check on them in eight minutes,
and make sure they look right. One other thing I'm going to do is move them out a little
bit, a little farther apart, just because they will expand. I don't want them to all
become one giant gingerbread blob. That would be bad. Let's throw these in the oven at 350
for about eight to ten minutes.
