MEREDITH: I'm at my first rehearsal and I'm really
excited to meet my dance partner.
I was a little bit nervous at first but I'm
feeling awesome today.
And I'm so excited.
MIKE SONG: Hey.
MEREDITH: Hey.
MIKE SONG: Hello.
MEREDITH: I'm Meredith.
MIKE SONG: Mike.
MEREDITH: Nice to meet you, Mike.
MIKE SONG: Nice to meet you.
You ready to do this?
MEREDITH: Yep.
MIKE SONG: We're about to go into rehearsal.
Yeah, I saw her Just Dance.
She lets go.
She seems free.
I'm not sure, but it didn't seem like she has any kind of
technical training.
Maybe she does.
But from the video it seems like, total teenage girl that
dances with her girlfriends in the room at their slumber
party type of deal.
Based off of that, I'm excited to work with that energy and
multiply it.
Do you have any dance experience?
MEREDITH: I do.
I did cheer for 3 and 1/2 years, competitive
cheerleading.
So I can do some tumbling passes and I'm pretty limber.
So I have a little bit of experience.
And I also did jazz and ballet when I was younger.
MIKE SONG: OK.
Wow.
I wasn't expecting that.
MEREDITH: Mike is awesome.
He's really funny and he's really just easy to talk to
and get along.
MIKE SONG: Now that I know that she's got some moves up
her sleeves, I think we can kind of bump stuff up
a little bit too.
MEREDITH: OK.
MIKE SONG: Oh my god.
[LAUGHING]
That's so awesome.
MEREDITH: And then he like walks around.
MIKE SONG: Yes.
Totally.
MEREDITH: [LAUGHING]
MIKE SONG: That is awesome.
MEREDITH: Thanks.
MIKE SONG: I love the Bernie.
I think Meredith is a little bit shy but she started
getting more comfortable.
And then she was doing the Bernie and just showing me her
little dances.
So I think she got more comfortable by the end.
For the concept of this routine, I was thinking it's
just going to be kind of high school prom themed.
And we're going to be just the two awkward ones at the dance.
MEREDITH: OK.
Sounds good.
MIKE SONG: That's pretty much how the whole story is going
to play out.
We're going to be the awkward ones.
And then I'm going to try to ask you to dance.
And then you're going to be kind of shy and I'm going to
be awkward.
And then we're going to do this whole really awkward
kindergarten type--
not kindergarten, but you know--
this whole awkward type of feel in it.
And it's going to evolve into a little fun thing at the end.
MEREDITH: I think the routine is perfect for my age because
this is the time in high school when we're going to
high school dances.
And we're learning how to dance with each other
and just have fun.
MIKE SONG: And five, six, seven, eight.
MEREDITH: The more I danced with Mike and we started to
just get into the routine a little bit more, I started to
feel a little bit more relaxed and comfortable
with the whole routine.
MIKE SONG: Do you want to hear the music?
MEREDITH: Sure.
Let's play it.
MIKE SONG: Twistys.
MEREDITH: Oh, I did the wrong foot.
No.
MIKE SONG: Two step.
Touch.
MEREDITH: Oh my gosh.
I can't do this.
MIKE SONG: I think it's really important that Meredith pays
attention to detail and that she's hard on herself because
those are the little details that can make the difference
between an average performance and an awesome performance.
MEREDITH: I feel like I'm doing it wrong.
MIKE SONG: No.
You're good.
You're good.
I could tell she's a perfectionist because she's
critiquing herself.
So I like that actually.
Go.
Boom.
Yeah.
MEREDITH: Sorry.
MIKE SONG: No.
It's all good.
MEREDITH: I'm a little bit nervous just in case for the
final performance I forget to move quickly
or I trip or something.
I want to be able to do it really well so I
don't fall on my face.
MIKE SONG: Side.
Bounce.
And back.
Bounce.
Yeah.
We're just having so much fun right now that we're doing all
of the cutest dances.
And we're just like, I love life.
It's that feeling.
MEREDITH: Yeah.
MIKE SONG: As long as we practice and we get it
stationed into our brains, I think she might get it.
Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
Five, six, seven, eight.
MEREDITH: Our routine is amazing.
And the other contestants better watch out because we
have got this nailed so far and we're going to kill it.
MIKE SONG: Step.
Touch it.
Apart.
Come in.
Step.
Touch.
Step.
Touch.
Step.
Touch.
Meredith is like my little Pokemon right now.
But I want to give her all this energy so come
performance time she's going to be like this crazy fire
breathing dragon.
Turn.
And hop.
Hop.
Yay.
Two.
Yeah.
Good job.
MEREDITH: Nice.
