Textured vegetable protein, also known as TVP comes in a dried format here. As you can
see, it's dried and comes in little granules. This is a great substitute for anyone who
does not eat meat, as it is a soy-based product. The way to use this is to rehydrate it in
three parts liquid to one part water. Now, it really does take on any flavor that you
give it, so if you rehydrate in mushroom stock or chicken stock, it'll taste like mushroom
or chicken. TVP is used as a substitute for ground beef in burgers, sloppy Joes, salads,
and there's a lot of different uses for it. And those are some of the ways that you can
use TVP.
