Music [ This is from an imaging instrument on SDO called AIA ]
Music [ It shows light from the sun with a wavelength of 304 angstroms ]
Music [ Each wavelength reveals plasma at a different temperature: 304 is 50,000 Kelvin ]
Music [ 211 is 2 million Kelvin ]
Music [ 171 is 600,000 Kelvin ]
Music [ Notice how each wavelength shows different features of the eruption ]
Music [ 1700 is 4,500 Kelvin ]

Music [ The bright flash at the beginning is the flare. It was actually only a medium-sized one ]
Music [ These videos were made directly from the full-size images--10 times HD resolution ]
Music
Music [ This is now at the native resolution of AIA ]
Music [ It is not magnified, it is just a piece of the full-size video ]
Music
Music [ The plasma follows the magnetic fields of the sun and makes them visible ]
Music [ like iron filings on a bar magnet ]
Music [ The magnetic fields emerge from the bright active region ]

Music [ On the opposite side, interesting--but unrelated--things are happening ]
Music [ Notice the plasma "tornado" and the jumping plasma arcs ]
