Hi, I'm Andy from Three.
Today we'll be talking about software updates.
I'll also show you how to update your iPhone or iPad
to the latest Apple software, iOS 6.
From time to time, phone manufacturers release software updates for their phones.
These updates can fix bugs, improve usability,
add new services and boost your phone's performance.
Now, here's how to update to iOS 6, the latest update from Apple.
You can read more about it, and all the new features it offers, in the description below.
You can get iOS 6 if you're using:
iPhone 3GS, 4 or 4S,
iPad 2, or the new iPad.
There are two ways to get it:
through iTunes on your computer, or through an over the air update on your phone.
I'll take you through both of them now.
But first, whichever way you choose to update, we recommend
syncing your iPhone or iPad in iTunes before you start.
This will back up everything that's on your device, just in case you lose any data.
To update using the latest version of iTunes,
connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable that came in the box.
A message will pop up asking you if you want to download the latest software.
Click 'Download and update' and your phone will start updating.
Make sure you don't unplug it until the update is finished.
To update over the air on your phone, you'll need to make sure
you're connected to Wi-Fi and have at least 50% battery on your phone.
Tap Settings,
General,
Software Update.
and your device will check if any software updates are available.
Tap 'Download and install'.
Then, just follow the on-screen instructions to update your device to iOS 6.
The update can take a few hours, so it might be a good idea to
leave your device plugged into a charger while it updates.
