Diana: Hi. My name’s Diana.
Ellen: And I’m Ellen.
Diana: We’re with the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response
Diana: here at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Ellen: A few months ago, CDC posted a blog with instructions
Ellen: on how to prepare for a zombie apocalypse
Ellen: and real emergencies, like earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes.
Ellen: We got such a great response,
Ellen: we want to see what you learned.
Diana: September is National Preparedness Month,
Diana: and now we’re asking you to help us
Diana: educate the public on emergency preparedness
Diana: by entering our video contest.
Ellen: Every year, disasters disrupt thousands of lives.
Ellen: These threats are ever-present,
Ellen: yet many people don’t prepare for them.
Diana: What we want to know is:
Diana: How are you prepared?
Diana: Although organizations like the CDC will help during a public health emergency,
Diana: YOU need to be ready
Diana: to help protect yourself, your family, and your community.
Ellen: Show us how you’re prepared by creating a short video
Ellen: and submitting it to the Are You Prepared? Video Contest website.
Ellen: The winner will be featured on the CDC homepage and YouTube channel
Ellen: to be seen by thousands of people around the world.
Ellen: Your video could include a skit, song, dance, anything you want.
Diana: It could even include zombies!
Ellen: Just make sure the video includes our key message
Ellen: Get a Kit, Make a Plan, Be Informed
Ellen: and appeals to a broad range of people.
Diana: For more information, including contest rules and guidelines,
Diana: please visit
Diana: You have until September 30th to submit your video,
Diana: so start planning today!
Diana: Be creative, have fun, but most importantly,
