Valentine's Day Scents: Perfume Review / Fragrance Review

Hello Fumeheads! I'm always happy when Valentine's Day rolls around, 'cause it's the perfect
opportunity to treat your sweetheart - and yourself - to a romantic fragrance.
I've rounded up 10 love potions that range from nuzzly to naughty - depending on what
you're doing when you're wearing it.
I've picked out 5 women's and 5 men's scents, but the last time I checked, perfume did not
have genitalia - and if it did that would be terrifying quite frankly- so go on and
wear whatever makes your little heart sing. Ladies first!
Fracas by Robert Piguet is a rich, candied tuberose that is heady and dramatic. I think
of Fracas as a sophisticated glamourpuss perfume. The florals border on overripe, which is what
makes it so sexy.
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle is a sweet'n'spicy oriental that dries down to a thick, vanilla
amber. The spices give Coco Mademoiselle a certain masculinity, which makes a contrast
to the girly girl wearing it. Ooh, provocative!
Prada L'eau Ambree is a sheer, delicate oriental that reminds me of a low-cal Shalimar or Kenzo
Flower Oriental. L'eau Ambree plays citrus against rose, amber and vanilla, and the effect
is soft and snuggly and a little powdery.
Lola by Marc Jacobs is a sweet fruity, rosy perfume with a hot, cottony musk. This way-powerful
scent and the purple vinyl flower bottle are total 80's flashbacks. If you weren't alive
then, you might like Lola now.
Agent Provocateur is a mossy rose with a dirty little secret. It's intensely feminine, intimately
female. I call this one a slutty rose. It's not heavy, but it leaves a beautiful trail
when you wear it. It's my personal favorite of all the perfumes on my Valentine's list.
And know for Les Dudes...
John Varvatos for Men starts off sweet, with a hint of dates, and dries down to a barbershop
shaving cream. It's warm and creamy - easy to wear and easy on the nose.
Prada Amber Pour Homme is soft, clean, and slightly soapy. There's a powdery quality
that gives way to a touch of leather. The effect is low-key and elegant.
Kenzo Power is a woody floral in musk trousers. Nice outfit! It starts out fresh and a little
spicy, then it turns into a sensual jasmine and amber mix. Smoooooth.
Yves Saint Laurent Body Kouros is a sweet licorice delight. Eucalyptus and incense give
a head-clearing kick before the soft, warm drydown. I like this one.
Annick Goutal Les Nuits d'Hadrien is a spicy citrus all sexed up with amber, woods and
musk. It smells natural and refreshing. It's great for people dont't want to be overloaded
with fancy-shmancy, complicated fragrances.
So now that you know your valentine fragrance options, all that's left to do is find a valentine!
Happy hunting! I'm Katie Puckrik, and I smell.
