ALEX ELLIS: Today is the first day that we go to the theater.
It's really exciting.
I'm going to have breakfast with Aleks Pevec right now
because he is also having his Broadway debut .
So we're going to get to the theatre
early and have a moment.
[THEME MUSIC]
And here's our street.
You can see it in the distance.
ALEKS PEVEC: Whoa.
ALEX ELLIS: The Neil Simon.

Oh my god, we get to go knock on the stage door.
[SQUEAL]
ALEKS PEVEC: Ready to go in?
ALEX ELLIS: Here we go.

ALEX ELLIS: Hello.
ALEKS PEVEC: Hey.
ROXY: Hello, I'm Roxy.
ALEKS PEVEC: Hi Roxy, I'm Aleks.
ALEX ELLIS: Great to meet you.
Yes, we're both Alex.
Yay.
ROXY: I've got two Alexes.
ALEX ELLIS: Where do we go?
What do we do?
ROXY: You guys are going to go across the stage.
You're going upstairs, and you're going downstairs.
ALEKS PEVEC: Mmm-hmm.
ALEX ELLIS: OK.
Oh my god, there it is.
ALEKS PEVEC: Wow.
ALEX ELLIS: Look at the band stand.
Oh.
ALEKS PEVEC: Oh my gosh.
ALEX ELLIS: So cool.
Look, here's our foot--
set foot.
[SMOOCH]
I can't believe this.
This is crazy.
ALEKS PEVEC: A big deal.
ALEX ELLIS: Oh, you're up, Alex.
I'm down.
ALEKS PEVEC: No, I'm down.
ALEX ELLIS: No, you're up.
Here we go.
I don't know where I'm going except maybe in here.
Oh yeah, you're down here.
Where do girls go?
Upstairs?
OK.
Here's stage right.

Up one more.
Here's our big room.
ALEKS PEVEC: Yes.
Oh, this is great.
ALEX ELLIS: Awesome.
ALEKS PEVEC: You guys are so close to the stage too.
ALEX ELLIS: Here's my office.
I can't freaking believe I'm in my dressing room.
This is absolutely--
I've waited for this since I was seven.
It's crazy.

I'm not going to cry, OK.
This is absolutely crazy.
ALEX ELLIS: This is all our Broadway debuts.
Say hello.
FEMALE SPEAKER: That's really close.
ALEX ELLIS: Hello.
Hello.
MALE SPEAKER: Whoa.
MALE SPEAKER: Hi.
ALEX ELLIS: It's not Matt's, but he's here with us.
HOLLY: Oh, wait, hold on.
I get to be in this group.
ALEX ELLIS: Holly too.
Everyone's Broadway debut, it's very exciting.
[LAUGHTER]
ALEX ELLIS: There's our stage.
JACK O'BRIEN: Are you making a movie?
ALEX ELLIS: I'm doing that documentary, remember?
JACK O'BRIEN: Well, hold the camera still.
[LAUGHTER]
HOLLY: And these will be the stairs be the stairs
we will fall down.
ALEX ELLIS: Yes.
HOLLY: One of us, at some point, will bite it.
ALEX ELLIS: In those four-inch heels.
HOLLY: Yeah.
ALEX ELLIS: There's our stage manager.
ROLT SMITH: I also want to make sure you guys meet all
the crew guys, and make friends with them because
they're going to be a big part of our process now.
And they'll be very helpful to you.
So don't be shy about saying hi and introducing yourselves.
All right, well, let's go over stage left, and I'll just show
you where the crossover is.
ALEX ELLIS: This is back behind the scenes.
This is the walk-through.
This is how you get on stage through here.
FEMALE SPEAKER: Alex.
ALEX ELLIS: Hey girl.
FEMALE SPEAKER: Yay.
[APPLAUSE]
ALEX ELLIS: Yay.
Walk across.
Can we walk across?
FEMALE SPEAKER: Wow, careful with those ramps.
ALEX ELLIS: Everybody is waiting to do the
walk-through.
We're going across the stage.
So cool.
This is where the orchestra sits.
And we're back where we started.
Too cool.
This is my stewardess outfit, and I have to do a quick
change into "Live in Living Color." But today is the first
day of tech.
It is February 25.
And this is so freaking cool.
Do you even recognize me?
I've always wanted to be a blonde.
Here, come on.
They're working out the opening scene right now.
Here are some of the girls.
FEMALE SPEAKER: Hi.
ALEX ELLIS: Hi.
You look [INAUDIBLE].
Va va voom.
Here's my wing man, literally.
I'm in the ensemble, and then, I play Betty the high school
student in one of the scenes in the first act.
This is my Betty dress.
You can't really see.
Here, I can show you through the mirror.
This is my Betty dress.
This is Betty.
MALE SPEAKER: This is Betty.
ALEX ELLIS: With her biscuit shoes.
[LAUGHTER]
MALE SPEAKER: Biscut shoes--
[LAUGHTER]
MALE SPEAKER: --that is just wrong.
ALEX ELLIS: We're backstage waiting.
There's all the girls in their uniforms.
They look really hot.
Look at all these gorgeous girls.
JACK O'BRIEN: And the window's got to go faster.
ROLT SMITH: Screen faster, and what else?
JACK O'BRIEN: The window.
The screen and the window have got to go top--
ALEX ELLIS: Look how gorgeous they are.
Tech's going really well.
We're just getting through the second number.
They're lighting the show and making sure everybody is in
their right place on the right numbers.
So it's going well, but it's just a really long day.
But it's awesome.
I'm so excited.
I don't care.
I could be here forever.
