Hi, this is video tutorial on the game of Blackjack on behalf of Blackjack Doc.
Today we are going to be talking about the basics of Blackjack.
Blackjack is a card game played between a player and a dealer.
Though in land casinos it is played by several players at one table,
the online version is most of the time for one player only.
The game uses a special table covered with a green felt
which contains all the necessary information about the rules of the game.
There are also places for player bets, player cards, dealer cards and even for drinks.
Blackjack is usually played with 4 decks of 52 cards.
However some casinos may use from 1 to 8 decks.
The cards are contained in a special box called a "shoe".
The game is played with the help of casino chips of different color depending on their value.
The aim of the game is to get the hand higher than the dealer hand
without going over 21 (which in Blackjack terms it means busting).
The cards in blackjack are valued as follows:
small cards from 2 to 9 are valued according to the rank.
For example 4 is valued as 4 points and 8 as 8.
High cards 10's, Jacks, Queens and Kings are valued as 10 points.
Ace in Blackjack has a special value.
It can be valued as either 1 or 11, regarding what is better for the hand.
Before we start playing the game, let's learn what are the types of blackjack hands.
The highest combination in blackjackis a 10-valued card and an Ace, which is called Blackjack or Natural.
By the way, Blackjack beats any hand of 3 or more cards that totals 21.
There are also two types of blackjack hands, soft hands and hard hands,
both depending on the value of an Ace.
Soft hand is a blackjack hand in which an Ace is counted as 1 or 11 without busting.
For example, this hand of a 7 and an Ace is a soft hand with the total of 18 or 8.
A hard hand is a hand in which an Ace is counted as 1 only. For example,
if the player wants to take another card and the card is a 4,
an Ace will be no longer counted as 11, and the hand total is 12.
This hand of 9 and 10 is also a hard hand and totals 19.
Note, that suits in blackjack are of no importance.
These are the basic rules of blackjack, and in our next video we will
learn how to play blackjack with the help of step-by-step instructions.
