Today we won’t tell you that in 2010, Colombia had 512 landmine victims or that on average, we have a new one every day.
We won’t tell you that of the 9133 reported cases, 870 were just kids.
No, we won’t bother you with those numbers.
Today we want to tell you that while we remain in silence, they’ll continue using them and the victims will keep feeling like they are alone.
Today we want to invite you to wake up from the apathy.
We want to ask you that when you go to work, to the park or to the university, show that you care.
On April 4th, put on their shoe. Roll up your pant leg.
By rolling up our pant legs, we won’t make them stop using landmines. Our fields won’t stop being dangerous.
But we will tell the whole world that we don’t agree. That we care. That we think it’s deplorable.
And we will tell them that in Colombia it hurts.
April 4th. International Day for Mine Awareness.
