BETH HOYT: My eyes.
My eyes are so much better.
Thank you for asking.

Hey friends, it's Monday.
And this is My Damn Channel Live, and I'm
your host, Beth Hoyt.
Thanks for tuning in.
And I have a celebrity guest on the show today.
Thomas Ian Nicholas from the American Pie movies is here.
We'll hang out with him in a few minutes.
But first, I want to talk about my weekend, because it's
Monday, and what a weekend I had.
You guys know I'm popular, and I have like lots of friends.
And I enjoy social drinking and things
like dancing and stuff.
Right?
You know that, so know that and just listen to my weekend.
First of all, here's a picture of who I
spent the weekend with.
OK.
Well, I wasn't--
I wasn't with him.
He was there.
I spent the weekend watching Game of Thrones
season one by myself.
You may recall that a few weeks ago, I was completely in
the dark about this show.
Let's show them that.
MALE SPEAKER: This is Queen Regent Cersei Lannister.
BETH HOYT: She's beautiful.
MALE SPEAKER: And her brother, Jamie Lannister.
BETH HOYT: Oh, very Orlando Bloomy.
MALE SPEAKER: They're having sex.
BETH HOYT: The brother and sister are having sex.
MALE SPEAKER: Oh yeah.
BETH HOYT: So they don't know they're brother and sister.
MALE SPEAKER: No.
They know.
BETH HOYT: They know.
And they're OK--
MALE SPEAKER: Absolutely.
BETH HOYT: Wow.
So it's just going to go there.
OK.
What a naive fool I was.
I'm fully on board now.
I get it.
I love it.
Sometimes, I'm overwhelmed by my dislike for certain
characters, mostly the little boys.
I hate the little whiny evil boy brats
and I want them dead.
I think I'm--
I think I'm less sensitive to death after watching this
whole season in one weekend.
But then, I'm also--
I'm concerned because I never see them--
I never see anyone eat, and I wonder what they snack on.
Also the king with the eye makeup, he became such a
sweetheart right.
And all the muscles, he's the one I'd want to date the most.
I have so much more I want to say about that show.
But I've got my own show to do here, so
let's freaking do that.
OK.
Right.
Anyway, I want to show you two of our very funny and very
short videos, and when I see you again, in like 30 seconds,
I'll have some company.
[TELEPHONE RINGING]
-Hey buddy, we're going to have to let you go.
I'm really sorry--
-Oh, thank God.

Honey, stop.
It's OK.
He fired me.
-Ha.
Ha.

-(THEME SONG) It's the Jon Friedman internet program on
your world wide web.
[DIALING AND MODEM SOUND]
-And that's why I think this show needs an asshole living
in the garbage.
-(THEME SONG) It's the Jon Friedman internet program on
your world wide web.

BETH HOYT: Hi again.
So you recognize our guest today from American Reunion
and the rest of the America Pie movies, from the Thomas
Nicholas Band, or maybe he has a place in your heart from
Rookie of the Year.
I own that movie on VHS.
No big deal.
It's Thomas Ian Nicholas.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Does anybody even
know what VHS is anymore?
BETH HOYT: They don't.
I mean--
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I'm just saying, you're watching--
BETH HOYT: I just dated--
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yeah, I know.
BETH HOYT: I just dated myself.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Sorry, we're old now.
BETH HOYT: Hey, kids.
It was a big box that had a movie on it.
Anyway, American Reunion has been in theaters
now for a few weeks.
Congratulations on that.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Thank you.
BETH HOYT: The first one was in 2009, or 1999.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: 1999, yeah.
BETH HOYT: 13 years ago.
So here's my question.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: OK.
BETH HOYT: If you could talk to, talk to, if you could talk
to yourself, National Shakespeare Day, if you could
talk to yourself, to that person, to that little boy,
that little Thomas Ian Nicholas in 2000-- in 1999,
and tell him anything, give him any lessons learned about
these 13 years and filming these three movies, what would
the lesson be to him, knowing that you're going to--
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I would have maybe started growing the
beard earlier, because it took me 10 years
from the last movie.
And we could have done one in between that--
BETH HOYT: Oh my gosh.
That was what was holding up the process.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I would've just told myself--
told Kevin to relax.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
That's a good tip.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yeah.
And myself too, really.
BETH HOYT: Right.
Yeah.
So you're the Thomas Nicholas Band.
You've been spending a lot of time on this.
And you have a song on the American Reunion soundtrack.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I do.
BETH HOYT: And you've been touring with this stand for
four years.
Is that right?
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yeah, that's right.
I've got three albums now.
The third one just came out on iTunes.
BETH HOYT: Awesome.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: So.
BETH HOYT: What's your, what's your favorite city to tour in,
to perform for?
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Um.
I mean I really do like playing in New York.
I just played last night, and I'm playing
another show tonight.
And I'll be tweeting about that later.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: And then um--
BETH HOYT: How was the audience last night?
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: The audience last night was good,
despite the nor'easter.
BETH HOYT: Yeah, maybe better.
Because they're inside, and they're excited to be like
we're all here.
He can just jam out.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: No one wanted to leave.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Because of that.
BETH HOYT: All right.
I--
I have a lot of questions, but so do your Twitter fans, and
we have to honor them.
And we're going to look at few of them.
All right.
On the spot, just answer these questions.
Who's the first twitter.
All right.
This is from jeshiboo.
She wants to know, hey, Thomas, Q from the UK, have
you ever both acted and played a track for the same movie
soundtrack?
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yes.
In American Reunion.
BETH HOYT: Yep.
That was--
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: That was easy.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I fired that one out.
BETH HOYT: Boom.
Next.
This is from Alex Moschina.
What was it like working with Daniel Stern in
Rookie of the Year.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Oh, wow.
Bringing it back to the VHS days.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Because you put up that picture.
Daniel Stern was amazing.
So much fun to work with.
And not as kooky and crazy as you know the
characters that he plays.
Like kind of a normal guy.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Kind of like a father
figure sort of thing.
BETH HOYT: We like knowing that.
Yeah.
I wonder if you're that way in real life.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yeah.
BETH HOYT: Save the kookies.
Next question.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Gary Busey was crazy though.
BETH HOYT: Oh.
Gosh.
We'll get that.
OK.
Let's, yeah.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Sorry.
BETH HOYT: Bring it back to us.
Tell us about Gary Busey for one second.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: He was crazy.
BETH HOYT: Yes.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I mean just as crazy as you think he
is, he's crazier.
BETH HOYT: We want to hear.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I mean he once carried me by my
underwear across the lunchroom in front of 75 crew members.
BETH HOYT: Did that hurt?
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yes.
That was what I would call the ultimate wedgie.
BETH HOYT: Just for fun?
Just-- it was fun for him.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Just because he's-- because he's
Gary Busey.
BETH HOYT: And were you like screaming the whole time.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: And you know I was the person he was
the nicest to.
BETH HOYT: I see.
Very scared.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yeah.
BETH HOYT: Were you-- were you like screaming, like saying
like, put me down.
Or were you like I have to deal with this.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I don't remember.
BETH HOYT: There's no talking sense to this guy.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I was just traumatized.
I don't really remember exactly what happened.
BETH HOYT: Gosh.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: A long time ago.
BETH HOYT: I'm sorry to bring that back up.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: No.
That's all right.
BETH HOYT: You OK?
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yeah.
BETH HOYT: You ready to continue on?
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: All right.
Let's go.
Next question.
BETH HOYT: Let's do the next one.
Tragic blush.
That's what we all, that's what we just had.
OK, tragic blush wants to know makes you so awesome.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Um.
You know if you think I'm awesome, then you're probably
drinking a lot heavily.
And I like you.
BETH HOYT: That's the tragic blush that she has maybe.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yes.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
One more question.
Another question from, OK, how do you think we say Amanda
Burrin's name? xMANDIxNGOx.

I think I nailed it.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I think so.
BETH HOYT: You want to give it a try?
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: xMANDIxNGOx.
BETH HOYT: OK.
Yeah.
You got it.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: It just sounds like I have like a
static in between.
BETH HOYT: Like a robot.
Oh wait, let me see the question.
Which do you like more making music or art,
or acting, or art?
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: They're both art, Beth.
They're both art.
BETH HOYT: I know.
That's why that word just came out.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I don't know.
I like them both for different reasons.
Acting is my ability to create a character.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: And you know, and bring that
character to life.
Whereas music is more of like my thoughts and
my, you know, feelings.
BETH HOYT: So when you're doing music,
you're not a character.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Right.
I'm me.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Which maybe is a character.
I don't know.
BETH HOYT: I think so.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: You can be the judge of that.
BETH HOYT: All right.
We have two more Twitter questions.
Yeah.
Get to that.
AleexBRAH, is American Pie really over?
She wants to know.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I mean the poster says--
BETH HOYT: You can't--
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Save the best piece for last.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
There's still a piece yet.
Alex, AleexBRAH.
There's still a piece.
I think.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I would say.
I would say this.
BETH HOYT: I want to see where you guys are in 40 years.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yeah.
American Geriatrics.
I would say that if--
if it came to it, and Universal is like, hey, do you
want to do another one, I'd be in.
I'm not saying that's happening.
I'm just saying.
BETH HOYT: We're just saying Universal.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Hey, Universal, if you're
watching, I'm in.
BETH HOYT: They're watching.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: If you want to do that.
BETH HOYT: If they're watching.
They're watching at Universal.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Of course, they're watching.
BETH HOYT: One more Twitter question.
This is from Mr. Chris Donahue.
Will you sing a song to @TheBethHoyt, which is me on
My Damn Channel Live.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Do you want me to
sing a song for you.
BETH HOYT: I do.
I do.
Sing.
Sing.
Sing.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Then yes, I will do it.
BETH HOYT: Sing.
Sing Sing.
All right.
We'll let you let get set up.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: You guys have a guitar here?
BETH HOYT: Yeah, we--
we can scrounge up a guitar.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Or am I going to play your ukulele.
BETH HOYT: Oh yeah, you could do that.
We'll figure it out.
And you guys close your Facebook tab and watch this
thought provoking video from Linked Out called Facebook
intervention.

-What are you guys doing here?
-It's OK.
Come sit down.
-Love you, bro.
Bring it in.
-Is everything OK?
-Everything's fine, Bryan.
-I'm sorry.
Who are you?
-My name's Richard Kelson.
And your family has invited me to be with you today.
-Hold on.
Is this a joke?
-There's nothing funny about addiction, bro.
-What addiction?
-It's Facebook.
-Facebook.
-Facebook.
-The book, bro.
-What are you talking--
I'm not addicted to Facebook.
I don't even use Facebook.
-Exactly.
-Hold on.
This is an intervention, because I'm not using
Facebook.
-Shawn.
Why don't you start?
-Thanks, Richard.
Bro, you've been with me through thick and thin.
Honestly, I feel like you're slipping away.
Me and Carrie, we got a son now through sex.
We like love him and stuff.
And we posted these pictures last night,
and you didn't comment.
You didn't share.
You didn't like.
What's up with that, bro?
-What do you mean what's up with that, bro?
I--
I wasn't on Facebook so I didn't know you posted
anything.
-Nothing ever works, Richard.
What the hell is going on here, bro?
-Shawn, no.
-You're tearing this family apart, bro.
Look at this face.
No.
Is this what you want?
-Will someone tell me what the hell is going on here?
-OK.
Bryan, Bryan, sit down.
OK.
You need to realize that we are offering you a gift today.
-Is this a prank?
-Carrie, do you have anything you'd like to say?
-Bryan, it's no secret we've had our differences.
But on Facebook, I can start to enjoy your personality
without actually having to look into those
beady eyes of yours.
But now, I feel like I'm being forced to physically talk to
you, and I already told you that I hate doing that.
Plus, I post this really cute vid of a cat
eating a string cheese.
And you haven't commented.
You haven't liked.
-I--
I'm sorry I guess.
I--
-OK.
OK.
That's enough.
Why don't we hear from, um, Keith?
-Who?
-Hi.
I'm Keith.
We've never met in real life, but, um,
we're friends on Facebook.
And I always thought that if I ever met you in real life that
we'd be really good friends.
Maybe even best friends, but I feel like I don't even know
you, man.
-That's because you don't know me.
We haven't met.
-Be that as it may, if you don't get help, Bryan, I'm
going to have to unfriend you.
I don't care.
-I don't know who you are.
-OK.
Bryan, you just relax.
Marie, do you have anything that you'd like to say?
-Bryan.
-Mom.
-I've always loved you, but I--
I'm just as bad as you.
I don't even know what Facebook is.
But I promise to get help too.
-Mom, what are talking about?
You're a great mother.
-Bryan, admit it.
She's disappointed all of us.
-Admit it, Brian.
-Just admit it, bro.
-No.
No.
No.
There's nothing wrong with you.
There's nothing wrong with her.
-Be strong, Marie.
-Bryan, if you don't get help, I'm going to have to cut off
all communication with you.
-Mom.
I--
-I don't know what's happening to my family.
-Are you--
really guys, this is what you want?
-Just log on.
-OK.
Fine.
I'll do it.
-So you'll get help, Bryan?
-I'll do anything.
Just leave my mom alone.
Please.
-Bring it in, bro.
Get on up.
Come on.
Bring it in.
-Group hug.
-First and 10, bro.
First and 10.
-I don't know who you are.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
BETH HOYT: All right.
We're back, and Thomas Ian Nicholas is going
to sing us a song.
And you guys all know how I'm going to, I'm trying to, I'm
going to make a YouTube music video.
And I'm observing whatever advice I can get.
I'm using our guests.
So Thomas--
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Did you just say you're using me?
That's kind of cool.
BETH HOYT: OK.
Basically, since you're a performer I want to know.
I just want to know how much emotion is too much emotion.
I'm working on the emotional core for my video now.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: The emotional core.
BETH HOYT: Using you.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: OK.
BETH HOYT: Trying to find someone--
I just kind of channel your emotions
during your song playing.
If that's OK with you.
Is there a background that you can tell me about this song
that you're going to sing.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I sort of wrote it as
like Stiffler's anthem.
BETH HOYT: Stiffler's anthem.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yeah.
So you have to have to tap into your inner Stiffler.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
Like OK.
My inner Stiffler.
There's a lot.
There's a lot of ups and downs in that, which is great.
That's what we need to get to.
And this is "My Generation" from American Reunion.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: The only thing I ask is that when it
works out, and you become, you know, an internet sensation--
BETH HOYT: Yeah, it's going to happen.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yeah.
That you, you know, give credit where credit's due.
Just saying.
BETH HOYT: I hope that--
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: A special thanks.
Or you know.
BETH HOYT: Trust.
We promise.
Yeah.
Absolutely, well, let's see if it works out first.
I mean--
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: OK.
Right. right.
BETH HOYT: I got to channel the right stuff right now.
So hit it.
[MUSIC - THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS, "MY GENERATION"]

BETH HOYT: Yeah.
Thank you so much.
Awesome.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: I saw some good stuff there.
BETH HOYT: Gosh.
I was working through some things.
I was really working through it.
Thank you for bringing me there.
Check his website, and also for his New New Yorkers, his
band is playing tonight at Brooklyn Stable.
It's in Williamsburg.
The show's at 8:00 PM.
And we'll see you guys tomorrow at 4:00.
Big show tomorrow.
I'm going to be setting some world records
for real, you guys.
And on Wednesday, two things, the triumphant return of You
Suck at Photoshop.
And the Gregory brothers will be here with me in our studio
for our big half an hour show, 4:00 PM, eastern.
Thank you so much for being here.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Yeah.
Thank you for having me.
BETH HOYT: Set your alarms.
You're welcome.
Set your alarms and your calendars.
And please.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS: Thank you for using me.
Sorry.
I keep interrupting.
BETH HOYT: No.
Yeah.
Just seriously, let me get through this.
No I'm just kidding.
Thank you for letting me use you.
You guys, please, just text me.
OK.
