SOT (PRESIDENT ELI CAPILOUTO): "In the six months we've served alongside you, we've been
continually heartened by the way you've welcomed us to the University of Kentucky."
SOT (DR. MARY LYNNE CAPILOUTO): "You have greeted us with open arms and hearts. We are
so proud to call UK and Kentucky our home. We've been in your classrooms, labs, clinics
and places of work. We've traveled across the Commonwealth, witnessing firsthand the
education, research and service you render in every county across Kentucky."
SOT (PRESIDENT CAPILOUTO): "Indeed, one of my most important responsibilities, and one
I do with great enthusiasm, is testifying far and wide about how the work you do is
changing our state and our world for the better. Now, as we prepare to end our first semester
together, it's an appropriate time to acknowledge this season. Even in the midst of very challenging
times, we have much for which to be thankful."
SOT (DR. MARY LYNNE CAPILOUTO): "We hope you and your families have a joyous, restful and
peaceful holiday period, a time of renewal and reflection as we end one semester and
ready ourselves for the work and challenges ahead."
SOT (PRESIDENT ELI CAPILOUTO): "For nearly 150 years, UK has endeavored to fulfill a
promise to the people of Kentucky. A promise to educate her children, preparing them for
lives of leadership, meaning and purpose. A promise to conduct path-setting research
that extends and enhances life. A promise to serve communities, large and small, across
our state, country and world in ways that heal communities and make them strongerÉ
Every day, in ways both large and small, we seek to make good on that promise. After all,
you, our faculty, students and staff are Kentucky's Promise. And so, during this time of reflection,
of looking back and of dreaming about what lies ahead, we are thankful for what you do
each day to make that promise real. During this season of thanksgiving and hope,
we wish for all of you a sense of joy and peace."
