This is how to make a slideshow in 6 easy steps.
Obviously, there ís lots of software available to make a slideshow..but.. DVD Slideshow Builder
Deluxe , has the edge , in that, it has got to be the most user friendly and has lots
of built in features . We start by opening up the programme and importing our photos and video
I'm going for Advanced mode in this example,
just because it has a few more functions. The programme opens up in this screen.
If you go up to the settings. Have this one checked .
In this area , you can set where your files go to.
Now go into Slideshow. These are the default settings for your photos. It's easy to change
the duration later, so I would just leave these settings for the moment.
Have the middle setting on manual and untick this box . If it's ticked, the music will
either repeat or be shortened to suit the length of your video. Press OK
To get started, you've got to import photographs and video that you've got on your computer.
So I'm going to press Add files I'm going to upload all of these by selecting
and pressing Open Now, you could be making a video of a night
out, for someone's birthday, a holiday or simply uploading a video file from your phone.
I'm just keeping it simple in this example, just to show you how itís done.
Youíll notice that the programme has put the photographs and the video into what's
called the timeline. At this stage, it's good practice to give your project a name
and do a Save So if we go here.Save as.I'm going to call it.
And now we're ready to move onto the next step.
First thing you might want to do is change the order of your photographs. You simply
drag and drop.
Next thing is to choose Edit. It throws up this dialogue box and your pictures
appear at the top. The type of changes you can made here are.
In Adjust altering the colours and brightness of your pictures , which you do here, just
by moving the slider. You can also use Filter. So, for example
there's an old photograph effect . You've also got various other ones there that you can
use. For the moment, Iím going to leave the photos without a filter and I'm going to say None.
There's also a repair red eye if you need to use it in photographs.
I like to crop the photos so that they are all the same size
and they fit exactly into the video frame, so I'm going to select crop
Iím going to choose 16 by 9 which is going to be the ratio of my video.
So I have to just fit my photograph into the 16 by 9 frame
and click Apply. Go to my next photo And so on.
Now that they're all done, I'm going to press OK and we can move onto the next step.
We go to these buttons at the top and move
onto Personalize. You'll notice that between each of your photos
is , what ís called a transition which is simply a way to get from one photograph
to another. The programme itself has suggested these transitions,
I've not had to put them in. If we have a look.
To change the Transitions, you come up here, the transitions button is selected. These
are the transitions here, all you have to do is use your scroll bar.
If you want to apply them, left click with your mouse and you just drag and drop them
where you want to make changes. To change the duration of shots, you have
to go into Timeline view, which is here. Using your mouse, just grab the end of the
photo , after the transition and drag it. Youíll see as you drag it, it changes the
size , which changes the duration . You can see up here that there are other items
to play with on the left hand side but we'll cover those in other videos.
To add an Intro and end credit, the first thing Iím going to do is to put the timeline
back into storyboard view, just because I think it's easier to see what's going on.
Then go to this button. It brings up all these pre-made intros. You
can also customise your own, but for the moment, I'll just pick one of these. Let's look
at that one. I'm going to go for this one. So double click on it.
You can change the text You can change the way the text comes in.
You can change the font and the size. Say OK
Now just move it into position. Go to Credit and do the same.
Now that you've finished, press OK and the intro and credit will be added to your
project. Let's just play the beginning to check it.
And that's how you add the intro and credits
The last step when you've sorted all the visuals out,
is to add in your music. I'm in Storyboard view. To add music,
you double click just here. I'm going to choose some music that I have
on my computer. Here's the track. It's a little confusing
because it looks as though it finishes there. It doesn't It's 44 secs.
If I now double-click on the music. I'm going to untick fade in.
Put the volume up a little. You can also change the length here, but Iíll
leave it for now. Iím going to click OK
Play it from the beginning .
It's fine.I'll check the end .
That works well. Let's do a save. Our video is complete and we're ready to upload it.
For the final stage, move into Create For the purposes of this video, I'm going
to show you how to upload your finished slideshow to YouTube and also how to save a High Definition
video file which can then be uploaded to Facebook or any other website.
Firstly, YouTube: Pressing Share to YouTube brings up this box.
If you already have a YouTube account, fill in your account name and password .
If you don't, click Add and go here. This will take you to a page where you can
open up an account. Fill in the rest of the boxes and then press Publish
The programme will now upload your video straight
to your YouTube channel. To make a High Definition video file , Press
Save as HD and I would go for this setting as it will play on most systems. PC and Mac.
Leave the rest of the settings as they are. You might want to choose where to save your
file to......just here...and then press SAVE.
You have now learned how to make a slideshow in 6 easy steps.
