I think everybody is beginning to understand that behavioral health-- we can't have a healthy
America without having good behavioral health. For example, about 25% of admissions to hospitals
have something to do with substance abuse or mental health disorder. About two-thirds
of antidepressants are prescribed in a primary care setting. And yet we know that people
with serious mental illness have-- about 83% of them are obese or overweight. We also know
that on average they die at about age 53. That's way too young. So what we know is that
there are health needs among those with behavioral health disorders and there's behavioral health
needs in the healthcare system that have not been adequately address. This Act is really
helping us do that better.
