Basketball Dribbling Tips & Tricks : How to Dribble a Basketball Behind the Back

Hi! This is Travis on behalf of Expert Village and we're talking about dribbling. What we
want to talk about now is the behind the back dribble. The behind the back dribble is going
to be most effective when you're actually in the open court going down either on your
right side or your left side. It's important and critical, and we'll talk about this in
another segment of watching your opponent's feet and how they're positioned on what it
might be most effective to use that behind the back dribble. Another good time to use
the behind the back is if you're dribbling right and you've got a defender coming at
you. What you're simply going to do is wrap the ball behind you. Let me try that again.
This ball is a little flat. We're just going to wrap it behind us and look for it in our
other hand. We're moving, coming behind the back, moving right, and vice versa. We're
going left. We're wrapping to our right. What you want to do is you want to concentrate
on bringing it round enough so that the ball's coming out in front of you so that you can
grab it enough. Pushing it out there so that it's far enough out for you to grab without
having to come back and reach back to get it. One more shot. I'll show you. You're pushing
it out far enough from behind your back.
