Hello, gaming enthusiasts. Naomi here with your Fix for Wednesday, October 19th.
There’s a ton of announcements for PlayStation fans today, but we’ve got a little something
for everyone, so stick around, wontcha? First off, the big one: the Playstation Vita
has an official, worldwide release date. In other words, if your thumbs are aching to
touch that shiny system, well they won’t be in pain much longer. The Vita will be launching
in North America, Australia, Latin America and Europe on February 22, 2012. Just a few
more months guys… breathe. Sony also announced that Uncharted 3 is getting
a special DLC preorder program. Called “The Fortune Hunters’ Club”, the program will
give Uncharted fans access to 7 pieces of DLC for 25 dollars. This includes four map
packs and three character skin packs. Purchased individually, this content would add up to
over $45 dollars, so that’s a pretty good deal...if you don’t mind buying something
you’ve never seen before. In our last big piece of Sony news for the
day, the company has announced a release date for their PlayStation-branded 3D Display.
The 24” 3D TV will run you 500 bucks, and will be out this November 13th.
Xbox fans, I told you I’d have news for everyone and I’m no liar. There’s two
new Xbox 360 bundles coming this holiday season. For 400 dollars, you can get a 250 gigabyte
Xbox 360 that comes with Kinect, Kinect Adventures, Carnival Games: Monkey See Monkey Do, and
a three-month Xbox Live Membership. The other bundle is Kinect-free and costs 300 dollars.
Along with a 250 gig Xbox 360, the package includes Fable 3, a free download code for
Halo Reach, and 3 months of Xbox Live. There’s no exact release date yet, but as they are
Holiday bundles, you probably won’t have to wait much longer.
And Nintendo fans, thank you for being patient. The big news is that Nintendo has announced
a special 3DS press event that will be held this Friday, as in October 21st. The Japanese
event is expected to cover the 3DS's November firmware update, as well as Mario Kart 7's
wireless play features. It will begin broadcasting via Ustream at 4am pacific-standard time.
If you don’t feel like getting up that early, just stay tuned to IGN for all the announcements.
