Our research group here at SMU is dedicated to polymer chemistry.
We're primarily focusing on more specialty type applications in the areas of drug delivery
to targeted locations within the body and also
having the release be controlled at given rate or in response to a given stimulus.
Instead of a diabetic having to take several shots a day and test blood sugar,
we can have an insulin that can sense that the blood glucose levels are high
and then able to do a controlled released of insulin to the body to take care of
those high blood sugar values.
Well my favorite kind of science is the kind that I think has application.
I get much more passionate about a project and I enjoy a project much more,
if feel like there's an some greater good for society or a greater benefit.
