Range/Stove/Oven Repair- Replacing the Bake Element (Whirlpool Part # W10308477)

Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect. Today we’re going to show you how to change the bake element
on your range. It’s a really easy job; all we’re going to need is a Phillips screw
driver and maybe a pair of needle nose pliers. Let me show you how we do it.
Now the first step in this repair will be to disconnect the power to the range; if it
has a cord on it simply unplug, if it’s hardwired we’ll need to disconnect the fuses
or the breaker.
Next we’re just going to open the door, remove any racks that may be in the way.
Our element is secured to the back of the oven cavity with two Phillips screws so we’ll
remove those.
Now we can pull the element forward just enough so that the wires that are attached to the
back of the bake element protrude through the opening. There to disconnect those wires
and tuck them out of the way either tape them to the back wall so that they don’t go back
inside the range.
Remove the old element.
The element will come with three legs on it that we want to make sure the element sits
flat before we install it. Grab those same wire terminals; reconnect them to the new
We want to inspect those wire terminals as well, make sure they fit nice and snug. If
they don’t just take a pair of needle nose pliers and crimp them a little tighter.
Next we’ll slide the element back through the insulation, we’ll line up those screw
holes again, before we tighten them down securely make sure the element is sitting flat, and
we can reinstall the rack, and reconnect the power, and our repair is complete.
Told you it was an easy job. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your repair.
