Fixed and mobile network upgrades, as well as the looming LTE license auction, will play
a vital role in the expansion of data services in the Czech Republic through 2017. Revenue
from fixed and mobile data will be the major source of growth in the forecast period, increasing
from $757m US dollars in 2012 to $1.0bn in 2017. In addition, the proliferation of connectivity
devices will spur the growth of data traffic; Pyramid expects smartphones to account for
75% of all handsets sold by 2017. Over the next five years, the data segment
is expected to demonstrate the most significant growth, increasing its share of the revenue

rate of 4.9% in local currency. Despite revenue decline, voice will continue to be the largest
revenue-generating service. The decline in voice services is due to MTR, circuit-switched
disconnections and heavily discounted VoIP services offered as part of bundles.
The growing uptake of fixed broadband and on its back, VoIP service and pay-TV services
will allow fixed services to increase its share of the total revenue pie. As bundling
becomes a key competitive advantage of the integrated operators, video will become an
