Hi, everyone. This is sports news.

The triple-gold medalist of the short track at the Olympic,
Ahn Hyun Soo applied for Russian citizenship to play for the 2014 Olympic Games.
Russia Skating Union announced that it will select him to the national team.
Kim Byung Seok reports from Moscow.

I wasn't planning to visit Korea this time.

Well, I'm training separately from the team,

because I need rehabilitation training
and to try the new skates

Also I should have training a little.
As I am in training, I try to keep a low profile.
I've missed you.

- You're lying. - No, I'm serious.

- There's a match in two weeks, right? - Yes
- I know everything - Yeah.

It's so much warmer here.

Far warmer, right?

Such a nice day.

Sunny days like this are rare in Moscow.

It's cloudy and rainy everyday.

- You did well but wasn't lucky? - Sort of...
That means bad score!

I'm here for one week only.

The main reason I came is to try my new skates.

This visit wasn't on my schedule actually.
I was hoping to relax and rest quietly.

I asked for the Olympic mark and the words on them personally.

Hope I can do well with this.

Still I'm under rehabilitation, so I can't train intensely yet.
Usually body's weight is loaded on the one foot in skating.
Not to have hard training,
I iust want to readapt myself with light training for the meantime.

Think while you're skating. You know what I'm talking about.

It's big enough here. Nice and roomy.
Every skater skates its own style.

Sometimes the bottom of the blade can be slightly curved,
If so you can adjust the curvature, which is called 'Rocker'.
It differs from skater to skater.
So my last coach is helping me with those things.
Before going to Russia he's figuring out everything for me.

He was my coach in Seongnam City since 2008.

until April last year when I went to Russia.
I met him when I was coaching in Seongnam City.

We shared life and death, joy and sorrow.

We'd stayed in a camp for training together
He managed everything from a to z.

He knows me better than anyone.
I just want him to be himself.
It was so sad to send him away, I didn't want it.
But Hyun Soo had no choice.
He could have had brighter future...

I think the life in Russia fits me.

I don't need any special things in activity and food
Many conditions are different from Korea.
In Korea, no one cared about him when he got injured,
not even the Union.
When Hyun Soo visited Russia, he've got injury
even though there's no guarantee he could fully recover,
they trusted him and did everything for him nevertheless.
That's why he could open his heart.
My parents still look me as a little boy.

Living apart from my family in the foreign country is
more worrisome than camp training in Korea,
so they're always worried about me much more.

I've met most of the other players when I was still in the Korean team,
only the youngest ones are new to me, so it was easy to become friends.

Thanks for the consideration I can have a single room.
Enjoying a single room makes us less running into each other

Language is important in training and communicating with other players,
so I have to study harder.

They're very competitive

and typical sportsmen.

Even though language and features are different
we are too much alike as sportsmen regardless of nationality.
I don't see them as my rivals.
We're training buddies and try to be helpful to each other.

They're much better than I thought they were..
Looks very free compared to Korean players.
The player's opinion is top priority,
so it feels freer.

It's a modern building.
They maintain a constant temperature for training.
They provide right temperature for training.
So it's a good environment for the players.

Sportsmanship can't be forced.
In my case, I've had near-death experiences.
And, I think it's important to overcome your limitations and do better.

Not pushed into it by others,
it's better if you can make your own decisions.

Exercise doesn't always depend on the intensity.

Sometimes you just feel satisfied about the day's exercise,
or sometimes it feels like it was in vain
even if you devoted much time to it.
Efficiency of the exercise is the most critical thing.

It's not about how long you've exercised,
but about how do you work out for your body.
That is very efficient way to players.

I've been on rehabilitation for over two years now,
After the injury...
