Leading ladies pave way for presidential campaign

In America, it's also about their nearest and dearest.
Never before have the wives of presidential candidates
been used so thoroughly in a presidential campaign.
But Ann Romney and Michelle Obama
are being seen a lot in the 2012 race.
The First Lady opened the Democrat convention
in North Carolina yesterday,
hard on the heels of Ann Romney's speech
at last week's Republican gathering.
Maori commentator Ata Te Kanawa says political partners
can no longer stand in the background.
She also suggests Maori male leaders could follow the example
of their American counterparts.
As to who's done a better job so far,
Dr Robinson reckons Michelle Obama is the clear winner.
