Hey, I'm Keri Glassman, here with some quick and simple tips to help you feel just a little
bit better. In general, fat has a pretty bad rap. Most people want to cut it, burn it,
blast it, melt it, and avoid it altogether. Harsh. The thing is, fat isn’t inherently
bad. In fact, it’s a necessary part of our diets. Fats contribute to satiety, the sense
of satisfaction and fullness we get from eating different foods. Our body also needs fat to
serve a variety of functions. The key is to focus on healthy fats in portion control.
You may have heard about these healthy fats. Omega-3's and monounsaturated fats ring a
bell? They can be found in foods like salmon, tuna, fatty fish, almonds, walnuts, avocado
and olive oil. They are good for us because foods rich in monounsaturated fats and omega-3’s
do everything from improving blood cholesterol levels, to improving your mood, to helping
with weight control, making these fats good for you. So remember: When you start talking
about combating fat, keep in mind that not all fat is bad fat. Choose your foods wisely
and not only will you get that satiation that you’re looking for, you’ll feel just a
little bit better too.
