Everything Everywhere Script: Written By: Justin Tafoya/Jessica Foust
(11:33:22) Jessica Intro “Most of us are using more than one device
these days. Whether it’s a tablet, a notebook or a net book, an e-reader, smartphone, and
even televisions. Our devices are getting more connected, and we as consumers are demanding
more from our products, we’re demanding more content anytime from anywhere.”
THE ECOSYSTEM OF HOW OUR DEVICES WORK WITH ONE ANOTHER AND DISPLAY CONTENT IS EVOLVING.
IT’S NOT ABOUT ONE CONVERGED DEVICE THAT WILL RULE THEM ALL.  BUT RATHER IT’S MULTIPLE
DEVICES THAT SHARE CONTENT AND TALK TO EACH OTHER.  AND THAT’S WHY TABLETS, PHONES,
CONNECTED TVS AND SET TOP BOXES WORK IN THIS CHANGING ENVIRONMENT OF SHARING CONTENT.
(3:01:30:00) Microsoft phone “People are using their phone to kind of
navigate their life. They’re using a lot more than they would a computer, and they’ve
turned into little computers. So this phone will do everything from download your music,
to play your favorite videogame, to telling you when to show up on your next appointment
…sending E-mail. You can use your exchange server, or your google mail, or your yahoo
mail.” AS THE LINE BETWEEN PORTABLE DEVICES AND COMPUTERS
BLURR… WE GET CLOSER TO SEAMLESSLY SWITCHING BETWEEN THEM – AND WITH ALL YOUR DATA FULLY
SYNCED.  TAKE SUGARSYNC FOR EXAMPLE. THIS CLOUD BASED SERVICE ALLOWS INDIVIDUALS TO
SYNCRONIZE THEIR DATA ACORSS PLATFORMS. “Imagine having all data from all your computers
easily sharable, easily backed up, and accessible all on your phone – so SugarSync makes that
happen. We have apps on Android, apple, symbian, macs and pcs-so pretty much we work on most
devices and computers.” THE SERVICE CAN EVEN BRING OUR DIGITAL AND
PERSONAL LIVES TOGETHER …CREATING NEW WAYS TO ACCESS OUR INFORMATION.
(2:44:08:33) SugarSync “I’ll be walking down the street, and
I’ll be like “Jessica oh hey, I just came back from Europe.” I can go to my home computer,
I can go to my pictures, I can go to my air folder, and I can show you photos, or even
better… I can send you an album, right from my phone to you. Hi res photos, Right from
my phone.  It makes for really cool serendipitous chance encounters. This all on my phone, so
having access to everything, this thing goes with me everywhere I go, so having access
to everything, I personally find it very neat” BEYOND DATA ACCESS, CONNECTED DEVICES MAKE
IT POSSIBLE TO STILL BE AT HOME EVEN WHEN YOU’RE NOT. WITH AN I-CONTROL SECURITY SYSTEM
YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT MIGHT BE GOING ON WHEN YOU’RE OUT OF TOWN.
(18:34)I Control “Not only do you have a monitored home security
system, that sends information to central monitoring station, but now you have thermostats
that you can control from an in-home touch screen or via the web or mobile phone. Lighting
modules to be able to control lighting, door locks, IP camera’s now that work indoors
or outdoors so you know who’s at the front door. You can determine if you want to let
them in or not. You never even have to answer the door if you want. As well as all the standard
security devices including door sensors, smoke detectors, motion sensor, and so forth”
VO: FROM SECURITY TO ENTERTAINMENT…DEVICES NO LONGER PLAY A SINGLE ROLE IN DELIVERING
CONTENT. MANY DEVICES LIKE THE SHARP GALAPAGOS ARE BEING USED SIMULTANEOUSLY TO SHARE CONTENT.
(05:59:28) Sharp Galapagos “You can use it as a remote control, and
even pause the video. Now I swipe it back down to the Galapagos, watch it again on the
Galapagos again if I want, or I can move it across to my smart phone.”
VO: WHILE IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF GADGETS TO WORK WITH, WE MAY START TO USE A SMALLER AMOUNT
OF ELECTRONICS-PERHAPS IN PART TO DEVICES LIKE THE TABLET. THIS DEVICE CONVERGES EVERYTHING
FROM E-READERS, PORTABLE DVD PLAYERS, MP3 PLAYERS, AND EVEN PHONES.
WITH ITS FORM FACTOR AND PORTABILITY…TABLETS HAVE ROCKETED INTO THE MAINSTREAM. THE COMPETITION
TO BEAT OUT THE IPAD CONTINUES AS EACH NEW TABLET HOPES TO PUSH THE BOUNDARY FUTHER ON
WHAT THEY’RE CAPABLE OF. (4:25:46) Blackberry Tablet
“It’s a really neat form factor. People are able to do a lot of things really conveniently
that were a bit difficult to do on PC’s and stuff. We’re just starting to figure
out now that I’ve got this really cool device being able to have the convenience with instant
on. Being able to surf the web without having to lug out the laptop, and boot it up. What’s
really cool is now people are trying to figure out what else can we do? What new can we do?
…and when you have a portable device like the playbook that you want to take with you,
the opportunities are pretty awesome. WHILE TABLETS GIVE OUR DIGITAL CONTENT PORTABILITY,
EVEN DEVICES THAT HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR MORE THAN FIFTY YEARS ARE CHANGING. TELEVISIONS
HAVE EVOLVED OUT OF NECESSITY TO KEEP UP WITH MODERN DAY DEMANDS. THANKS TO I-P CONNECTIONS,
OR THE WAY WE RECIEVE DATA THROUGH THE INTERNET, USERS CAN NOW ENJOY EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE
WITHOUT GOING ANYWHERE. (03:16:00) Yahoo Conn. TV
“Since we’re creating an IP connected device from your TV that’s taking it out
of being a dumb device to make it sit there listening, and to actively participate in
everything you do.” (03:16:30) Yahoo Conn. TV
“If I want to check stock quotes I can bring up this experience, scroll through some stock
quotes, hit a button on the control. Put it away, it’s just that simple.”
EVEN WITHOUT AN INTERNET CONNECTED TV, TECHNOLOGY STILL MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO CONNECT IT THROUGH
SET TOP BOXES. Intel – CES 2010 Interview 3.62a
“a lot of people its great to have it all integrated in to the television but many people
have bough their HD tv recently and they're not ready to replace it. so a box like this
that you can pickup- for a relatively small amount of money that allows you to overlay
this internet capability on top of what you already have, is a very cost effective and
convenient solution for many people.” SET TOP BOXES SUCH AS BOXEE BOX AND LOGITECH
REVUE MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO WATCH YOUR FAVORITE SHOWS AND MOVIES FROM THE INTERNET ON YOUR
TV. (4:45:41) Boxee
“If you tell Boxee to play it, boxee will play it. It will not complain. If it’s on
the web, you can play it too, and there’s a full feature browser. So basically if you
can play it on your computer, you can play it on your TV”
(05:12:59)Logitech Review “If you wanna just look for comedy, it’ll
show you everything that’s on. If it’s on now, how much time is left, if it’s upcoming.
And one thing I didn’t know about, really, was all these cool podcasts that are out there.
So now I can get my podcasts on my TV, and I can subscribe to them, and I can see that,
since I set this up a couple weeks ago, I’ve got twenty new dilbert cartoons that have
now come right to my TV, and I watch them in a few seconds. So it’s bringing all that
content, some that I already knew I was looking for, and some I didn’t even know existed,
right to my home, and I’m sitting on the couch enjoying it all.
(4:49:48) Boxee “The more content we can offer our users,
it becomes more appealing to a broader audience. So we’re definitely more focused on getting
more content on Boxee.” THE RATE AT WHICH WE CONUME CONTENT CONTINUES
TO SPEED UP, WITH THE KEY WORD BEING APPLICATIONS.
(3:17:30) Yahoo Conn. TV (this looks longer than it actually is)
“We have an open development eco-system. So anyone who’s a developer can actually
develop for our platform. So we see large manufacturers utilizing that, large content
companies doing that, a lot of TV networks, a lot of media companies, Amazon, video on
demand, blockbuster, people doing video on demand experience, a lot of games manufacturers
producing games on the platform, we also have an apps store component that we are showing
here for the first time, it allows you to purchase applications, There’s a monetization
model for the developers themselves, facebook, twitter, all the big names that you know have
developed applications to allow users to get what they want on the device, when they want
it. (03:01:03) Microsoft Phone
“Our customers are getting access to 100 new apps everyday, and from the data we’ve
looked at so far they are downloading at least one app a day.”
BETWEEN THE GROWTH IN CONTENT AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES, WHAT CAN WE AS CONSUMERS EXPECT FOR
THE FUTURE? (2:26:23) Marley
“Technology has grown so vast in the last five years like, so there are so much avenues
to see things, do things, and be a part of things that I couldn’t put my finger on
it. You have computers, you have this, you have that, you have satellite, you have this
you have that. Telephones” (05:15:22) Logitech Interview
“Some of the things we’re most excited about are the things we don’t even know
about yet! We’ve just opened up the developer platform, so a lot of people are going to
develop some amazing things. We’re going to be able to get social gaming, video calling,
and I can just see the music capabilities going exponentially from here so I love to
say… The best is yet to come, and we don’t even necessarily know what that is…”
(2:48:38) SugarSync “Three years from now we’ll look back
and think, how did we ever live without this?” AND SO IT WILL PROBABLY BE – AS WE ACCUMULATE
CONTENT EVERYWHERE…OUR ENTERTAINMENT DEVICES WILL CONNECT TOGETHER AND ZIP CONTENT TO EVERY
ROOM IN OUR HOME OR EVEN HALF-WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY ON OUR NOTEBOOK COMPUTER. IT TRULY
IS GETTING EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE. I’M JESSICA FOUST FOR TECHNEWSDAILY.
