This weekend, a virtual Tupac Shakur made his debut at the Coachella Festival... and
now, he may be hitting the road! Hey friends! Shandi here... And thanks to some cutting-edge
holographic technology, fans were able to watch Tupac live on stage for the first time
in 16 years with a (non holographic) Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. The performance was the
most buzzed about at the fest, and now it may be coming to a city near you!
Although Tupac died after a fatal shooting in 1996, he was introduced to a new, younger
generation of music fans thanks to the digital effects geniuses at Digital Domain. Chief
creative officer, Ed Ulbrich, said “This is just the beginning. Dre has a massive vision
for this.”
So massive, in fact, he’s trying to bring Snoop’s cousin Nate Dogg - who died early
last year - back to the stage as well. Talk about a tour to remember!
It just goes to show - Just because you’re no longer a living, breathing person... doesn’t
mean you can’t go on tour! But will fans shell out to see holograms in concert - and
can they compete with their flesh-and-blood counterparts? Given the rave reviews of Tupac’s
Coachella debut - with many calling it “the best hip hop concert of the decade” it seems
more likely than not.
Well, that’s all we got for now! Till next time, I’m Shandi... And be sure to subscribe
