Uploaded by HPPrinterSupport on 23.01.2013

Transcript:
This video shows how to fix your HP printer when it stops printing and a Jam error message
displays on the printer’s control panel.
In this step, you will clear any paper jams from inside the Automatic Document Feeder,
or ADF.
Do not remove jammed paper at this time.
Begin by removing any loose paper from the ADF tray.
Open the ADF cover.
Grasp any jammed paper in the ADF tray with both hands, and then gently and evenly pull
it toward you to remove it.
Remove the paper as carefully as possible. If any torn pieces remain inside, more paper
jams are likely to occur.
Lift up on the tab located on the front edge of the ADF mechanism.
Look inside the mechanism for any torn pieces of paper. If any obstructions are found, remove
them.
Lower the ADF mechanism back into place.
Close the ADF cover.
Load the paper into the ADF tray until it stops. Slide the paper width guides inward
until they stop at the edge of the paper. Do not push the guides in so tightly that
they start to bend the paper.
Press OK on the control panel to continue with the current printing task.
If the issue is resolved, you do not need to continue troubleshooting. You can resume
printing as normal. If the issue persists, go on to the next step.
In this step, you will clear any jams from the output areas.
Do not remove jammed paper at this time.
Begin by removing any loose paper from the output and input trays.
Lift the scanner assembly to gain access to the cartridge door.
Locate the cut-out near the output tray. Place your finger into the cut-out and lift to open
the cartridge door.
Grasp the handle on the print cartridge and pull it straight up and out to remove it and
then set it aside.
Check the output bin for jammed paper. If you see any paper, remove it by pulling gently
and evenly with both hands to avoid tearing.
Check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper inside the printer. Use a flashlight
to thoroughly search inside the printer to find all small scraps of paper. If any torn
pieces of paper remain inside the printer, more paper jams are likely to occur.
When all jammed paper has been removed from inside the printer, you can reinstall the
print cartridge.
Grasp the print cartridge by the center handle.
Make sure the tabs on the cartridge align with the slots in the printer. Then insert
the cartridge until it stops.
Close the print cartridge door.
Then lower the scanner assembly.
Load the paper into the input tray until it stops. Slide the paper width and length guides
inward until they stop at the edge of the paper. Do not push the guides in so tightly
that they start to bend the paper.
Try printing a page directly from the printer’s control panel to see if the issue is resolved.
On the printer’s control panel, press the Setup button to open the Setup Menu. This
button looks like a small wrench.
Using the Arrow buttons, scroll to Reports.
Press OK to enter the Reports Menu.
Scroll to Config Report and press OK again.
If the page prints successfully, the issue is resolved. You can resume printing as normal.
