Hey there everybody, Tshirtbooth here. In this video, I’m going to show you how to
control the camera with GameSalad. Let’s go ahead and open up GameSalad, and we’re
going to choose the platformer template, edit in the GameSalad creator, and the green button
to enlarge.
Let’s go ahead and open up level one. The first thing you need to do is tell the camera
to follow an actor. So we’re going to go into the player actor. Now, this actor already
has the “control camera” behavior. If your actor doesn’t have it already, simply
go into the behaviors, choose “control camera” and drag it in.
We’re going to go ahead and hit back. And up here, we’re going to choose the camera
button. This is where we set the location of the camera – you can drag that anywhere
on the scene.
The inside box is the sensor. You can stretch this to any size you like. I’m going to
show you what the sensor box does. I’m going to go ahead and stretch it all the way to
the sides, and hit preview.
When I preview, watch the character. As you can see, the camera doesn’t move until the
actor gets to that side of the screen. I’m going to go ahead and hit back. Now that’s
no good, because we want to see what’s coming in front of the actor. So I’m going to choose
the camera again, and tighten this to somewhere around here. Now you’ll see when I hit preview,
the camera starts moving when I hit that section of the sensor.
Go ahead and hit back. Now I’m going to choose camera again, and widen this just a
little bit. So as you notice, it’s about 75% of the way in the whole scene.
Go ahead and press preview, and I’ll show you again. Now the camera doesn’t follow
until I get to that section on either side.
Now that’s pretty much how to control the camera in GameSalad.
