Sumatra can expect even bigger earthquakes in the future after the strongest undersea
earthquake ever recorded occurred there last week. Seismologists have never seen anything
like this quake that ruptured the Earth’s crust and went as deep as the mantle. Tourist
spots in Thailand reacted quickly to the tsunami warnings.
South Korean warships scoured the Yellow Sea looking for debris from the failed North Korean
rocket. U.S. Navy minesweepers and other ships were also believed to be involved in the search.
New sanctions of North Korea from the U.N. are expected in the near future.
The U.S. is considering following Korea’s lead in a food waste tax that is expected
to reduce food waste by 20% in 2013. Additional savings would be achieved in reduced food
waste processing, less consumer purchasing, and a significant drop in greenhouse gas emissions.
The U.S. wastes $43 billion of food annually.
Angelina Jolie, 36, and Brad Pitt, 48, a Hollywood megastar couple since 2005, are engaged but
