With emergence of winters carrots and green peas are available in abundance.
Today we will make carrot peas sweet and tarty sabzi.
Let’s see what al ingredients are required for making carrot peas sabzi.
Carrot - 2 (250 grams)
Tomato - 2 (medium size)
Green peas - 1 cup
Oil - 2-3 tbsp
Green coriander - 2-3 tbsp (finely chopped)
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Salt - less then 1 tsp (as per taste)
Green chilly - 1 (finely chopped)
Ginger - 1 inch piece (grated)
Red chilly powder - ¼ tsp
Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
Garam masala - ¼ tsp
For making sabzi cut carrots first.
Peel the carrots and remove the stalk.
Turn on the gas.
Cut carrot into ½ inch pieces.
Add oil in pan.
When oil gets hot, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, turmeric powder, ginger, green chilly, and coriander powder.
Sauté the spices for while.
Add chopped carrots and green peas in the pan.
Also add red chilly powder and salt.
Now add 2-3 tbsp water in the sabzi.
Cover the pan and cook sabzi for 5 minutes on medium flame.
Meanwhile cut tomatoes.
Finely chop the tomatoes.
After 5 minutes check the sabzi.
Keep a constant check on sabzi.
Cover the sabzi and cook for 2-3 minutes more on medium flame.
Check after 3 minutes.
Stir the sabzi and check whether carrots have become tender or not.
Don’t overcook the sabzi.
Now add tomatoes, garam masala and green coriander into the sabzi.
We have used chopped tomatoes, but tomato paste can also be used.
If you wish not using tomato then use ½ tsp mango powder.
Cover the pan and cook for 2 minutes again on low flame.
After 2 minutes stir the sabzi.
Sabzi is ready; turn of the gas.
Take it out in a bowl.
Garnish with chopped green coriander leaves.
Sweet-tarty flavored carrot peas sabzi is ready.
This much quantity can be served to 3-4 family members.
Serve with chapatti, parantha, naan or rice.
