My name is Airton Cozzolino. I was born in Cape Verde. When I was 12 I moved to italy. Now I live for 6 months in Italy and 6 months in Cape Verde.
During the summertime we have a kitesurfing and diving school here in Sardinia and another kitesurfing school in Sal, Cape Verde.
I started when I was 6 years old. At the beginning I surfed, I was a little scared of the kite. It gave me a strange impression.
My dad encouraged me to try it and everything started that day in Punta Apreta lagoon in Sal.
I try to turn it like a skateboard. The kite helps you do flips. However, the moves of your feet are the same for a kite and skateboard.
For now I'm an athlete. I plan to train harder in my future, trying to always reach the best results. This year…
I have to defend the World Title that I won last year. When I get older I hope to manage the surfing school that we run.
When I was a child I used to run away from school and go surfing. When there were waves my friends would come to school and tell me,
"There's waves!" I would wait for my teacher to leave the classroom and I would run out to surf. The passion I had for surfing was very strong.
The sea to me means everything. It means to live, have fun, and stay with nature. It means everything to me.
