Hey, I'm Keri Glassman here with some quick and simple tips that will help you feel just
a little bit better. There's no cure for the common cold, so for us busy people who can't
afford to be wiped out by illness, the next best solution is to keep our immune system
in tip-top shape. Today is the first in my series of five foods that will give your immunity
a boost. Some yogurt is full of probiotics (not all, though), bacteria that keep our
gut healthy, read the label to ensure your yogurt has probiotics. Don't be afraid to
call the manufacturer and ask questions, too. This healthy bacteria lines our intestinal
walls and helps to fend off advancing germs. According to studies, yogurt rich in probiotics
can improve your immune response by increasing the body's white blood cell count. White blood
cells, you may remember from health class, are the cells that are in charge of protecting
the body from disease. So remember: Your first defense against sickness is keeping your immune
system in shape. Adding more yogurt to your diet is one way to help you feel just a little
bit better.
