THE FIRST ANNUAL JEFFREY
OSBORNE CHARITY CLASSIC
TURNED OUT TO BE MORE
SUCCESSFUL THEN ANYONE
COULD HAVE IMAGINED. IT PAID
BIG DIVIDENDS FOR THE
CHARITIES INVOLVED. WE
SPOKE WITH ONE OF THOSE
CHARITIES, THE BOYS AND
GIRLS CLUB OF PROVIDENCE,
AND THEY TOLD US THEY'RE
ALREADY LOOKING FORWARD
TO NEXT YEAR.
IT STARTED WITH THE SOUND
OF MUSIC..(NAT POP)...AND
FINISHED WITH THE SOUND OF
MONEY. $150,000 GIVEN TO
CHARITIES INVOLVED WITH THE
JEFFREY OSBORNE CELEBRITY
CLASSIC. BEING ABLE TO
DONATE THAT MUCH MONEY
MADE THE PROVIDENCE BORN
R&B SINGER VERY HAPPY.
"You do these things. You want
to at
least be able to give these
charities
something substantial. So it was
nice
to be able to give back."
THOSE FOUR CHARITIES WILL
EACH RECEIVE TENS OF
THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. THAT
INCLUDES THE BOYS AND GIRLS
CLUB OF PROVIDENCE.
"Funding is always the critical
part of
what we do. We feed kids ever
day.
We just need the community to
surround us so we can continue
to
do that. Jeffrey and the people
who
put together the tournament
really
pulled through for us."
OSBORNE SAYS ALL THE CELBS
WHO ATTENDED THE EVENT
WERE ADAMENT ABOUT
HELPING THE BOYS & GIRLS
CLUB TOO.
"When I was talking to Smokey
Robinson he was saying 'man I'm
a
big alumni of the boys & girls
club, I
wanted to go and you didn't tell
me'
and I was told Magic went and
then
Pat Riley showed up. I just
think
they're a wonderful
organization."
WPRI 12 AND FOX PROVIDENCE
WERE MEDIA SPONSORS FOR
THE CHARITY CLASSIC.
OSBORNE HOPES TO ADD MORE
CHARITIES TO NEXT YEAR'S
EVENT. HE ANNOUNCED THE
2013 CELEBRITY CLASSIC WILL
TEE OFF ON AUGUST 12 AND 13.
OSBORNE REALLY HAS HIGH
HOPES FOR THE FUTURE. HE
SAYS THAT DOWN THE ROAD,
HE WANTS TO RAISE $1 MILLION
FOR THESE CHARITIES. WITH
