IGN News - The Future of Mega Man

Uploaded by IGNentertainment on 14.11.2012

In a recent interview with Nintendo Power magazine, Capcom gave Mega Man fans hope by
announcing the possibility of new games in the classic series.
After fans were told that there would be no new Mega Man game to coincide with the franchise's
25th anniversary this year, many were worried that Capcom had no plans to continue the series,
with the 2010 release of Mega Man 10 being the most recent entry.
Since the first game was released in 1987, the Mega Man series has seen well over a hundred
titles and has sold approximately twenty-nine million copies worldwide.
In an interview about the Mega Man 25th anniversary, Capcom USA senior vice president Christian
Svensson said, "I can say with certainty that you've not seen the last of the Blue Bomber
on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we'll be celebrating his 50th anniversary,
including all of the games you're going to enjoy over the next 25 years."
He went on to explain that in order to avoid disappointing fans, Capcom could not give
out any details on a future Mega Man release before the company was certain that the game
was going to come out. So, no new Mega Man announcements, but Capcom
promises he will return some day. When that day arrives, you'll hear about it first here
at IGN.
