QUDDUS: Hey!
How you doing?
Are you ready to be served with the freshest the
entertainment world has to offer?
Welcome to The Q Side.
That's what we do around here.
JASMINE CHANG: You're supposed to spray it from afar.
QUDDUS: Oh!
JASMINE CHANG: Like this.
SANTIGOLD: At age two, I told my mom, I don't like how you
dress yourself.
And I don't like how you dress me!
QUDDUS: Do you ever leave the house in just t-shirt and
jogging pants?
KATERINA GRAHAM: No, that's terrible!
QUDDUS: This edition is all about style.
And we get to count it down with three of the most
flavorful people I know.
Award-winning hairstylist and one of the stars of the new
show K-Town, Jasmine Chang.
Critically acclaimed musician Santigold.
And Vampire Diaries star Katerina Graham.
ANNOUNCER: The Q Side.
QUDDUS: Coming in to number three is Loud Channel family
Jasmine Chang, who is so accomplished as a hairstylist
that she thought it would be a good idea to teach me how to
do hairstyle on her head.
Oh, this is going to be good.

What exactly would you like me to do to your hair?
JASMINE CHANG: Do you know the group 2NE1?
It's one of the main Korean hip hop bands out there.
And they have the craziest hairstyles.
QUDDUS: Do you have a visual for me?
Oh yeah, you would like me to create a boner on your head.
I'm sure as easy as it is, I'll still
manage to mess it up.
Let's do this.
So is it--
JASMINE CHANG: No wait!
That's not how you do it!
You have to get a comb first!
QUDDUS: I was just starting slapping bands on your head!
Oh, it feels like I'm ripping your hair out!
JASMINE CHANG: No, you can just--
Fine.
I'm not even looking, and I know you're messing up.
QUDDUS: Let me just rest this here.
I know that's a professional technique called
the "Lay On." Hairspray.
JASMINE CHANG: Grab my hairspray and
spray it around here.
QUDDUS: More?
Less?
JASMINE CHANG: You're supposed to spray it from afar.
QUDDUS: Oh!
JASMINE CHANG: Like this.
QUDDUS: Did you always want to be a hairstylist?
JASMINE CHANG: I always messed around with
hair when I was younger.
I actually turned myself blond.
I was like, everybody I'll be right back.
I went into the bathroom and disappeared for a couple hours
and came back blond.
QUDDUS: Ahh!
OK, if it feels like I'm probably damaging your hair,
it's 'cause I am.
JASMINE CHANG: Pull it like this.
QUDDUS: That's not going to hurt?
JASMINE CHANG: No.
QUDDUS: That doesn't hurt?
JASMINE CHANG: No.
OK, OK!
QUDDUS: That hurts!
OK.
JASMINE CHANG: OK, let go!
QUDDUS: OK, OK!
And if you want to just quit right now while we're ahead.
And you only got a little bit of hairspray in your eye.
JASMINE CHANG: I forgive you.
Do it hard.
Like you stack it.
QUDDUS: (SINGING) Get your hair up.
Get your hair up.
Are you getting noticed on the streets already from K-Town?
JASMINE CHANG: Yes.
But Korean people, they don't really like to come up to you.
So they just stare and go, hee hee hee.
QUDDUS: Oh!
JASMINE CHANG: And then I know they're talking about me.
I kind of look like Sideshow Bob.
But that's OK.
QUDDUS: That's a new style.
We call it the cray-cray.
Think I lost my keys in there.
JASMINE CHANG: Ow!
QUDDUS: Sorry, sorry!
Yeah, I'm trying to--
JASMINE CHANG: You're getting really good.
You're kind of scaring me.
QUDDUS: Did we complete it?
Is that the boner that you're looking for?
Is that just for pop stars?
Or do you think you could go out in LA?
JASMINE CHANG: I'm gonna go out like this.
And if anyone messes with me, I'm like--
QUDDUS: Just hit them with it!
That thing looks like a joystick.
I'm going to go ahead and play it.
Hip me to the top five K-pop bands.
JASMINE CHANG: Top five.
2NE1.
Big Bang.
Girls Generation.
Wonder Girls.
And 2PM.
QUDDUS: Well, that was such a pleasure.
Thank you so much--
JASMINE CHANG: Absolutely!
QUDDUS: For being my guinea pig with hairstyling.
JASMINE CHANG: That was fun.
QUDDUS: Y'all definitely check out K-Town.
And keep it locked here on Loud.
That's how we do, baby.
Now tell me you wouldn't double take seeing that walk
down the street at you.
Shout out to her for letting me do that to her.
And definitely check her out on K-Town.
A new episode airs right here on Loud every Wednesday.
Now it's time for number two on our countdown.
Hennessy and legendary graffiti artist Futura hooked
up for a limited edition bottle that they celebrated in
the dopest way at a party at Milk Studios in Hollywood,
where they had Santigold perform.
And we had a chance to sit down with Santi
and talk about style.

All right, so--
SANTIGOLD: Shit.
I did red carpet with this on my wrist.
QUDDUS: What's the big deal?
SANTIGOLD: It's a hair twisty!
QUDDUS: And that's a big deal to have it on your wrist when
you're doing red carpet?
SANTIGOLD: Kinda weird, yeah.
It's girl stuff.
QUDDUS: No, but this is what we could talk about, because I
feel like--
SANTIGOLD: No, I don't wanna talk about it!
QUDDUS: No, but this is interesting though.
Because you are such a stylish individual.
People see you and they're like, oh my god!
Whatever you wear at this point, is like the new trend.
So let me tell you something.
When you wear a twisty, or a wrist thing--
SANTIGOLD: So you think that's gonna be the new style?
Red carpet's not for me, to be honest.
I don't like it.
QUDDUS: Why?
SANTIGOLD: It's not me.
I don't even like taking pictures.
It's weird that I'm even doing what I'm doing, 'cause I was
never a ham as a kid.
You know, kids that are always like hey, look at me!
I was never that.
And I wouldn't even sing in public.
When I'm performing on stage, it's a
completely different thing.
It's about the music.
And it's fun for me.
QUDDUS: So double back for me then to when you were a kid.
You didn't have much in the way of style back in the day?
Or did you still know about presentation?
SANTIGOLD: Oh no, no, no.
I didn't say that.
I didn't say that.
QUDDUS: Ah!
SANTIGOLD: I've always been into clothes
and fashion and stuff.
I love style.
I love it.
QUDDUS: How did you develop your sense of style?
SANTIGOLD: Well, let me tell you this.
At age two, I told my mom, I don't like how you dress
yourself, and I don't like how you dress me!

So it was established that early on that I had
a say, and I cared.
QUDDUS: Now how do you feel about people looking at you as
somebody with an impeccable kind of style that is a
trendsetter?
Do you feel pressure to be stylish?
SANTIGOLD: You should see me on tour.
I wear the worst stuff, and just every day. 'Cause I also
love being comfortable.
I get dressed up when I want, and I enjoy it.
But I don't ever feel the pressure to always be on.
QUDDUS: But then that brings me to the question, can you
pull off just about anything with the way that you wear it?
SANTIGOLD: Some things, no one can pull off.
But somebody who has good style can pull off the exact
same outfit as somebody else and just look awesome.
QUDDUS: What would you say about confidence being part of
the equation?
SANTIGOLD: You definitely have to be confident.
But you still have to have taste.
QUDDUS: Right.
SANTIGOLD: You can be confident
and look really whack.
QUDDUS: Now have you ever gotten on stage and
immediately felt like maybe you picked the wrong outfit
for the night?
SANTIGOLD: On stage?
QUDDUS: Yeah.
SANTIGOLD: Well, on stage I wear costumes.
And they're the same every night.
My show's like a play.
Everyone has the exact same outfit, and
it's like your costume.
[CHEERS]
QUDDUS: Let me ask you, because I think you do have
impeccable taste, you have great taste.
I want to know what you're listening to.
SANTIGOLD: Guess what I'm listening to?
Chief Keef, "I Don't Like."
QUDDUS: Yeah?
SANTIGOLD: I'm the biggest hater, so that's been my theme
song for the summer.
My whole band, crew, everybody, that's everybody's
theme song.
We just say it all the time.
QUDDUS: Well, thank you for chatting with me.
I know you gotta get ready for the show.
SANTIGOLD: All right.
QUDDUS: But yeah, lovely talking with you, as always.
SANTIGOLD: You too.
Good to see you.
QUDDUS: Well, I do like Santigold.
And you can get her latest album Master of My Make
Believe out now.
And now it is time for number one on our countdown, which
Katerina Graham is at.
And of course, she is one of the stars of Vampire Diaries.
But now she's really getting a lot of attention in the style
world for what she busts out on those red carpets.
So I felt like it was only right to give her the reins to
make me over.
So she took me to a private [INAUDIBLE]
showroom and definitely showed me a thing or two.
Kat and I go way back.
KATERINA GRAHAM: Way back.
QUDDUS: She's like my little sister.
KATERINA GRAHAM: Very much so.
QUDDUS: So as long as you've known me?
KATERINA GRAHAM: You've dressed the same.
QUDDUS: If you had to point to one thing to chalk up your
success to?
Like why you go in a room and book a Vampire Diaries?
KATERINA GRAHAM: 'Cause I'm really good looking.
I don't know.
I don't go after anything that's not mine already.
QUDDUS: So with Vampire Diaries when you first got the
script, you were like, that's for me?
KATERINA GRAHAM: Yeah.
I think you could do yuppie really well.
QUDDUS: I think I'll take that as a compliment.
KATERINA GRAHAM: Yeah.
Or we'll do more hipster. 'Cause you're kind
of a little of both.
So we're gonna put together some looks for you.
QUDDUS: I'm excited.
Remix bucket!
KATERINA GRAHAM: Remix.
You need a remix.
QUDDUS: Do you ever leave the house in just t-shirt and
jogging pants?
KATERINA GRAHAM: Never.
Why would I do that?
QUDDUS: Blasphemy in your world, huh?
KATERINA GRAHAM: No.
That's terrible.
What size are you?
Are you a large?
QUDDUS: Large.
I used to work in a store, and I remember having to fold
stuff back up.
KATERINA GRAHAM: You wouldn't want me in your store.
QUDDUS: So you just roll through and
just cause a whirlwind?
KATERINA GRAHAM: Like this.
Like a cartoon.
QUDDUS: How important is it, the way a guy dresses?
KATERINA GRAHAM: It makes a difference.
I don't need him to be over the top.
It just should look effortless.
QUDDUS: What the heck?
KATERINA GRAHAM: So I want you to try this on.
QUDDUS: Good colors.
Now the question is, can I pull this off?
KATERINA GRAHAM: Finding men's sizes is really hard.
It's like, it's a 40 jacket, and then a 34
pant, and then a 36--
Give me a small or a medium.
QUDDUS: Here we go!
KATERINA GRAHAM: This is the first time I've styled anyone,
by the way.
Oh!
QUDDUS: Whoo!
KATERINA GRAHAM: You look really handsome!
QUDDUS: Not bad, huh?
KATERINA GRAHAM: Let's tuck in the shirt.
And button--
QUDDUS: The top button swag.
KATERINA GRAHAM: This is --
QUDDUS: The young Obama?
KATERINA GRAHAM: This is the young Obama.
This is baby Obama.
QUDDUS: Yeah, we got--
KATERINA GRAHAM: How are you gonna do a fashion segment
with me and you're wearing two different pairs of socks?
QUDDUS: Oh snap!
KATERINA GRAHAM: You couldn't even make an effort?
QUDDUS: I didn't even notice that!
Where would you recommend I wear this outfit?
KATERINA GRAHAM: Maybe the supermarket.
QUDDUS: This is my supermarket outfit?
KATERINA GRAHAM: This is your supermarket outfit.
QUDDUS: Word?
KATERINA GRAHAM: So we pulled something else
for you to try on.
Tuck this in the pants and then I'm going
to roll up the pants.
See?
QUDDUS: Yeah.
KATERINA GRAHAM: See?
QUDDUS: I'm feeling more dignified already.
KATERINA GRAHAM: We have to start teaching you to tuck in
your shirt.
QUDDUS: But it's so much more comfortable like this.
KATERINA GRAHAM: I don't care!
Tuck the shirt in.
This is Quddus does Saint-Tropez.
QUDDUS: What do you guys think?
What do you guys think?
Chime in on the comments.
Y'all, does she have a future in styling?
KATERINA GRAHAM: So this is the last look.
This is Quddus does Princeton.
QUDDUS: I dropped out after one semester [INAUDIBLE]
University.
So this is a stretch.
KATERINA GRAHAM: OK!
Oh, I love it.
QUDDUS: And I tucked in.
KATERINA GRAHAM: This is my favorite.
And you tucked in.
QUDDUS: Well, ladies and gentlemen, what outfit do you
like best on me?
Let us know in the comment section.
KATERINA GRAHAM: Now we're going get you to some not so
well behaved clothes.
QUDDUS: Ooh.
KATERINA GRAHAM: [WHIP SOUND]
QUDDUS: Oh, in the second part of that make over--
KATERINA GRAHAM: Oh my god!
QUDDUS: Cray-zee!
