Hi, my name is Christopher Howell with Expert Village and today I'm going to talk to you
about how to watch soccer and it's basics. Some of the plays that you will encounter
while you're playing soccer will be the things such like a corner kick. Now a corner kick
happens when you're on the opposite side of the field, not your side, and you're trying
to score a goal. Let's say one of their player kicks it out behind the line. Not the side
line but behind the line that their goal sits upon. Well, if one of the defenders you know,
decides you know that it's better for me to kick the ball because I'm by myself, there's
too many of these defenders here, they're going to take the ball and score, well a lot
of times he'll turn around and he'll kick the ball out of bounds behind him. In that
situation, you'll get a corner kick. Sometimes corner kicks can be easier for the defenders
to defend, depending on, you know, who they're playing against and that's a choice if they
decide to take and sometimes it could be even harder. But a lot of times to get themselves
out of that sticky situation and being scored upon, they'll go ahead and they'll kick it
out, causing a corner kick and another reason why they'll do that is so, you know, they
can go ahead and they'll stop the play, call a corner kick and they'll have time to regroup
and get their whole team back there. Kind of give them better odds of getting the ball
back down the field.
