This week, we're going to take an inside look at the Columbia Ice Rink.
Hey Rachelle~
Hey Mike, how are you today?
Good good. Busy putting up skates, I might get some later on.
Well, certainly!
Tell us about Columbia Ice Rink.
The Columbia Ice Rink is part of COlumbia Association.
We have been here for over 40 years. Believe it or not! We are here to provide services to the community.
We are open seven days a week.
What kind of programs and events do you have here?
Well we have pretty much a little bit of everything for everyone!
Our public skating sessions for everyone. Just like today, you see we are open from Monday thru Thursday for adults from noon to 2pm.
Then on the weekends, we have public sessions for families and children.
We also have a learn to skate program here.
That's where we teach the young kids how to skate.Hopefully we can instil the love of ice skating,
and we also have the figure skating club here at our rink, and the youth hockey club.
What is the cost to use this facility?
We have the general skating session here, which is for everyone- you dont have to be a member of Columbia Association to skate here.
So to skate here at our public session it doesn't cost much. Admission fees are only $8,
and if you need to rent skates like these ones here, it's only $3 per pair.
Now if your child wants to join the Columbia Figure Skating Club, then they have their own membership fees that are separate from the Ice Rink.
For the Hockey, its the same thing, for a membership with them it's also separate from the Ice Rink.
Now, what are your hours of operation?
The facility is open seven days a week, sometimes we are open three days a week from
Wednesday morning through Friday morning, we open at 5:30am
for the figure skaters to come in and practice their skating before they go to school,
and the hockey players- generally they come in here after school,
after 6pm and they will practice until about 9:30-10pm.
That's generally our weekly schedule.
Now on the weekends of course we have our skating sessions as well as the general public sessions.
We also have hockey games here on Saturday and Sunday.
So you guys stay busy. How can we find out more information about the Ice Rink?
We are part of Columbia Association, so you can find out more on our programs by visiting our website at ColumbiaAssociaiton.org.
You know what, I think I will go skating!
Here’s a look at what’s up next week
Registration for the 2013 Biggest Winner Contest is open now through January 4.
CA’s award-winning eight-week weight loss challenge empowers teams of four
to reach their fitness and nutrition goals through small group training, nutritional advice and support.
