was considered a main reference that was taught in two universities: Vienna and Frankfurt until the end of the
16th century. And of course because chemistry has a relationship with drugs and drugs have a relationship with
medicine, Ibn Sina had a leading role in teaching chemistry, so he paid attention to minerals. The interest of
Jaber Ibn Hayyan in minerals and followed the composition of minerals a special following. He made drugs and
medicine from the knowledge he benefitted from chemistry. And to him are credited many of the
discoveries in this. He pointed to many of the chemical processes in this. He was the one who pointed to distillation
nomination, escalation and waxing. As a thought, he had his tools and special workplace for chemists
specially for Ibn Sina, as was with Al Razi and other than them. As for Ibn Sina's views of upbringing; many people
that were in the books that he had written. He wrote it in Arabic and he wrote it in Persian. But most of his views
on upbringing you will find in a dissertation that they call "The Book of Politics". He does not mean the politics that we understand
but the politics of bring up children. And the most that he has written was a book that he had written about
his way of upbringing. That the upbringing with his does not shorten to one stage -and that is the stage of entering the
child into school. Nay but covered the topic of bringing up the child from the moment of birth until marriage
and even his choices in his social life. He did not simply focus on one area of upbringing nor was he focusing on
some of the characteristics of humans but was concerned with uniting the characteristics of humans and
its completeness of mind, body and actions. These theories of upbringing by Ibn Sina had an affect of course
on his understanding of the religion, Islam, the Quran, the understanding of the sunnah (teaching of Mohammed PBUH)
and he was also affected by the philosophy of humankind. And Ibn Sina took care of consolidating his views
with medical justification, intrapersonal justification and philosophical justification. He combined philosophy
upbringing and understanding of the religion and combined them with understanding oneself to put forward
his views of upbringing. Of course, the stage of what is before school; Ibn Sina pointed that it is a mind state.
There the future characteristics of the child are built. There in this stage is the stage of gaining the habits
the good of it and the bad. And I repeat this many times in my lectures; the first 7 years in building people
from the life of humans -the first 7 years from childhood, there the mentality and the characteristics are built
Ibn Sina pointed to this since his time. As for the issues of ways of learning; Ibn Sina took care the individual ways
between the pupils and he paid attention to group teaching -the theories that the West are now propagating
as their theories. These are the theories of Ibn Sina! And he called for directing the pupils -that they should not
be in one school in one class, taking one methodology. Nay but directing pupils according to their abilities and talents
Today's theories are based on Ibn Sina's theories! And Ibn Sina paid attention to; according to his views on
upbringing the issues of physical and moral rewarding. And not the physical; it is important to take care of the
nature of the teacher and the knowledge that he has brought forth. And we must work gradually
first display to them, then confront them, then use indimidation then use reprimendation. Then refer to using punishment
So he had methods of conduct and being just towards this conduct with humanity. And he always used to see that
the push behind the punishment should never be under any circumstances revenge and hate. Nay but
the aim of the punishment is to give a good upbringing. And sincerity towards those pupils. And likewise he
spoke about the characteristics of the teacher. As for the produce of Ibn Taymiyya; speak and there is no harm
Ibn Sina was one of the most interesting geniuses and the most mature of writers, so despite following the positions
that he had followed, the travels to different countries, the wars that he had lived through and the local
conflicts that made him woried; despite that he wrote many books -each one of them was enough to establish
a glory. And he put in the refineries of the top leaders of the East. He refined more than 100 books
Listen, more than 100 books! Of course, his level of proficiency are mixed, but all of them show his status
and familiarity with the various sciences of his time. And his occupancy in the most critical of times
And of course most of his work have been preserved until today. And many of his books like Al Qanun (The Law)
and Al Shifa (The Cure) were translated into Latin and printed in almost all of the languages. And his book Al Shifa
is considered an encyclopedia in knowledge. Nay but a circle of facts in 18 volumes. It has still been preserved until today
at Oxford University. A complete, original copy from this book. Of course, the topic of Ibn Sina's philosophy is long, but
let us move to the end of Ibn Sina's life and his death, God bless him. The sheikh (wise person) died on a day
his duties did not slow his determination. Nay but he always used to give without stopping.
Then his body was affected by the illness and he was overlaid. It is said that he had become ill for a week
then was cured for a week. And he increased in eating the medicine, but his illness had become severe and he knew
that there was no use in treatment. And the doctors tried and he said "I am the one who taught you medicine"
"This is an illness that does not have a cure", so he deserted himself and said "The plan that has failed to cure my body
has no use in treating it. I am the one who cures people. I am the one who plans. I am unable", so he
gave us to the illnesses and did not take the medicine until he died. Praise be to Allah! The greatest of doctors
was unable to cure himself. In the end, the matter is with Allah (SWT). And he did (God bless him) in year 428 Hijri
Of course, the topic of Ibn Sina's philosophy is needs other meetings, but we suffice with this destiny of Ibn Sina
and will speak in another meeting about another great character from Al Mubdioon (The Innovators)
Salaam aleikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu
