We re here at EcoPrint on our stand
and a lot of the focus is on HP Latex printing.
Of course, you know that it s a water based ink, odorless print
and able to print on a wide range of substrates with sustainability credentials.
Actually, that s one of the things that we re announcing at the show.
Our Go Green swatch book contains 16 different media
that we believe have good sustainability credentials.
We ve actually gone to the trouble of laying out in the swatch book
what the key environmental claims to each of these media are
and the certifications that come with them and where they apply.
Talking of certifications,
the other thing that we re announcing at the show is a new certification
that we have both for latex inks and also for HP A50 Inkjet Web Press Inks.
It s a UL, Underwriters Laboratories, sustainable products certification.
It relates to the environmental profile and the human health profile of those inks
and these are the first water based inkjet inks to acquire that certification.
We re delighted to have it from Underwriters Laboratories.
It s a very well known safety verification brand around the world
and now increasingly also an environmental certification brand.
HP is committed to developing HP printing materials that are innovative
as well as programs to offer to our customers that meet their environmental needs.
We want to make sure the products we offer have been produced in a responsible way.
We have several products with FSC certification.
I would like to show you one example.
We have here the HP PVC free wallpaper.
This is an FSC certified product that meets also the certified GREENGUARD
Children & Schools'and meets AgBB criteria when it is printed with the Latex ink.
It s a very good solution for those customers who are looking for
an environmental indoor decoration product.
For us, what s very important is the recycling of printing goods.
So all these thousands of square meters we deliver into the whole Europe
that there will be for the future a way to recycle these prints.
The other important thing is the environment for our employees,
for the printing people in our company,
is a clean environment without emission and without smell.
HP invests efforts in R&D to develop solutions that offer a low carbon footprint.
A clear example is our HP high density polyurethane reinforced banner.
This is PVC free solution,
a clear alternative to PVC banner material for 140 grams per square meter
that offers an 80% lower carbon footprint versus PVC.
What we feel clients are asking today regarding sustainability is PVC free materials.
They re very material oriented.
They look very much for what s in the material rather than what s in the process.
When we come to the process of the printer, of the ink
or what sign service does, waste management, material automation,
it s something that we have to tell them.
Today, we need to give the right tools to our customers to expand their business
and go well beyond printing on traditional PVC banners and printing on self-adhesive vinyls.
Latex gives you this opportunity.
It helps you clearly to expand your business into a lot of new areas
starting with wall coverings and covering all the different applications that you may think of including textile printing.
Again, all that with just one technology and just one investment in the printer.
So, latex technology is the perfect example of how HP is committed to the environment.
