Hi! I’m Heidi Borchers. Today I’m making magnets and I’m using a vintage Aleene’s
technique using the Aleene’s Tacky Glue in the gold bottle. This is the
original Tacky Glue. It’s perfect for giving texture to my project.
And I said it was magnets so I’m also using the Aleene’s
Magnetic Tacky Tape or you can use the Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Dots.
It's a really easy project to do
and I'm using cardboard and I just use cereal cardboard.
I trace my pattern,
cut it out. I don’t do all the details on my drawing
but I kinda set it aside so it gives me an idea of what I want to do.
On my Aleene’s Tacky Glue bottle, I’m gonna put a tape nozzle
that will give me a really fine line for the glue.
Just simply put like a 2” piece
put it at an angle
and then just wrap it around
like so
and test it.
And see how it gives you a fine line.
Now all you do is just follow
the outside
and notice I'm not putting my nozzle right on top. I just keep it about…
oh maybe a quarter inch above
and just go around.
And if I have an area where it’s not quite
as thick, I can go back
and just do all your details
like so!
When it completely is full of all that you want to put on it, let it dry clear
and this is what it's going to look like
and then I paint it white.
Now, I've used chalks, I’ve used paints…today I thought it would be fun to use some alcohol inks.
So just simply start dropping your alcohol inks…
this is fun…
get the kids involved too, to craft with you.
Get a little bit of pink here and there.
And you can always drop color over color.
And you can always take a brush
and go in to there and just bring the color
around
until you have it like you want.
How fun is that!
I love the colors!
And then just simply let the alcohol inks dry
and then you can spray them with a gloss
spray
and then don't forget to make it into
a magnet, you’re going to use the Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Tape and just peel
it off
and just put it on the back.
The Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue in the gold bottle and
the Aleene’s Magnetic Tacky Tape and the Aleene’s
Magnetic Tacky Dots
are available at Michaels.
It’s terrifically tacky and creatively cool!
