You want some tea?
Yes, thank you.
It's lovely, thanks.
Dear Rabbi, what are you going to celebrate now?
Purim.
And what's this purim about?
The Youth Group will tell it!
The Youth Group of the Sim Shalom Progressive Jewish Congregation presents
Once upon a time The Jews, my folk,
From Persia's crime Were suffering non-stop.
Haman, the bad Persian, The devil's earthly version,
Convinced the stupid king To kill the Jews during spring.
Tensions are growing, That's not a game!
Then a woman's coming: Esther is her name.
Bad times are over: Esther and Mordechai won!
Peace came upon Israel The heavens cheer with the sun.
Sing, don't stop for a breath, Drink till your liver's death.
Let's all think of her – and shout: Chag purim sameach!
What exciting!
But who's Mordechai?
And why shall all the livers be dead?
Just wait...
Esther, the king's wife, Leads secretly a Jewish life
Following Mordechai's advice She told this the king, what wise!
The king had to admit That Haman's gone far a bit
He gave her his word: The Jews will be preferred.
The day is yours, Celebrate!
Forget the wars, Sing hail!
Bad times are over: Esther and Mordechai won!
Peace came upon Israel The heavens cheer with the sun.
Sing, don't stop for a breath, Drink till your liver's death.
Let's all think of her – and shout: Chag purim sameach!

On Purim we read the book of Esther,
Hearing the name of Haman, we make noise,
Hearing the name of Mordechai, we hail.
Everyone must get as drunk as a skunk.
We dress in costumes symbolizing the ups and downs,
and eat special cookies, like the Hamantaschen ('Haman's pockets').
Sing, don't stop for a breath, Drink till your liver's death.
Let's all think of her – and shout: Chag purim sameach!
