Howard Helmer: Come on and watch me cook omelets.
I'm the world's fastest omelet maker.
I'm in the Guinness book.
Yes, I am!
And I'm going to show you how to make an omelet
in a minute, okay?
And I'm going to use cheese and peppers, tomatoes and ham.
And I've got eggs beating up here.
And the omelet recipe is two eggs and two
tablespoons of water.
Can you see the inside of my pan in the mirror?
Okay. Watch my technique. Don't blink.
So into the pan goes some butter,
two eggs and two tablespoons of water which is what this ladle
holds and then with the spatula from the outside of the pan I
dig a hole and fill it.
Move the cooked egg to the center and tilt the pan so that
the raw egg finds some pan surface to cook on.
And then when there's no more runny egg but the egg is still
wet on top, I fill it.
And I'm almost there.
So this part should only take about 20 seconds.
So now that it's wet on top and this will cook when I fold it,
I put in some cheese and I put in some peppers and I put in
some tomatoes!
And I've got some ham.
Fold the omelet.
Turn it upside down on a plate.
And look, as simple as this looks is as simple as this is!
Got a minute?
I'll make another one.
Hang on.
Oh, I can't let you eat it.
But here my pan is hot.
My recipe is two eggs and two tablespoons of water.
Butter in the pan.
I'm making omelets.
Come watch me make omelets!
I'm the world's fastest omelet maker.
Yes, I am!
And I'm going to make an omelet in a minute.
And I've got two eggs and two tablespoons of water in the pan
and I dig a hole and fill it.
I move the cooked eggs to the center and tilt the pan.
And now when there's no more runny egg but the egg is still
wet on top, and this wet stuff cooks when I fold it,
I put on the filling.
Here's some cheese, some peppers, tomatoes, ham.
Fold it in half.
Turn it upside down on the plate.
And as simple as this looks is as simple as this is!
There!
Got a minute?
I'll make you another one.
The pan is hot.
And let me remind you that eggs have the highest quality protein
of any food you can eat.
So if you eat eggs in the morning you get all of the
energy for your body and mind that keeps you percolatin' and
percolatin' and percolatin' all day long!
Into my pan goes some butter, two eggs and two tablespoons
of water, and the pan is so hot that the egg bubbles
up right away.
With the spatula, dig a hole and fill it,
cooked eggs to the center, tilt the pan.
I always keep the whole bottom of the pan covered with egg so
that I keep like this egg pancake.
Almost done.
I don't want to cook this dry because then it gets tough.
Okay.
So now I'm ready to fill it.
All of this wet stuff will cook when I fold it.
So here is cheese, peppers, tomatoes, ham, fold it,
and turn it over on the plate.
As simple as this looks it's as simple as it is!
And I'm staying at the J.W.
Marriott here, they get 14.95 for this omelet!
16.50 to add that!
Got a minute?
I'll make another one.
Butter in the pan.
(pan sizzling)
The pan is very hot.
Two eggs and two tablespoons of water.
Dig a hole and fill it.
Do you see the technique in the mirror?
Dig a hole and fill it.
I'm making omelets.
I'm the world's fastest omelet maker.
I'm in the Guiness book.
No kidding!
Children: No way!
Howard Helmer: No kidding.
Child: What's your name?
Howard Helmer: My name is Howard Helmer.
Going to look me up?
Child: H-A-L-M-E-R?
Howard Helmer: H-E-L-M-E-R. Google me. Whooo!
(laughter)
And here I'm ready to fill my omelet.
I put in some cheese and some peppers and some tomatoes.
You can do this, you know, don't you think?
Don't you think so?
Huh? You should do it.
You know, omelets are a guy's thing.
I think they're like barbecue.
Like barbecue.
So this omelet gets folded and upside down.
I'm telling you, as simple as this looks is as simple as it is.
And I have two more plates left so I'm going to make two more
omelets real quick.
I'm the world's fastest omelet maker.
Don't blink!
So I'm going to show you how to make an omelet in a minute.
Butter in the pan, a hot pan, two eggs and
two tablespoons of water.
And see how it bubbles up?
Then with the spatula I dig a hole and fill it.
Move the cooked egg to the center, tilt the pan like this
(indicating)
so that the raw example finds some pan surface to cook on.
And then when there's no more runny egg but it's still wet
on top, it's time to fill it.
So I could fill it with some cheese.
I've got some cheese, some peppers, some tomatoes,
some ham, fold it in half and turn it upside down on
the plate.
As simple as this looks is as simple as it is!
A little parsley.
There!
And I have one more plate so I'm going to make one more omelet.
Butter.
(pan sizzling)
I'm making omelets!
I'm the world's fastest omelet maker.
Get out of my way!
And I think anyone can make an omelet in a minute and that's
what I'm doing.
I know, don't blink!
Don't blink!
And I'm going to fill this omelet with cheese.
Look, he's in awe. In awe!
Fold it in half.
Turn it upside down.
How fast was that!
Thank you. I'm out of plates!
