Teal is having its moment everybody.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
GRACE HELBIG: Hi Mike!
Someone out of there's name has got be to Mike.
So cool for you!
And for your parents for naming you that.
All right no more shenanigans here.
According to her IMDB page, my guest is the youngest in their
family, and her older brother's name is Paris!
Yeah.
Like the country.
But more importantly, she's one of the stars of the NBC
cult phenomenon, but also just normal phenomenon, Community,
please welcome Yvette Nicole Brown!
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Hey everybody!
GRACE HELBIG: Woo-hoo!
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I need to make sure they know that the
teal is having its moment was my quote Grace.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh, it's her quote, I Stole it.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: She kind of stole it.
She was upset that I jumped in and got in on it [INAUDIBLE].
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, it's what the internet does best, is
people stealing other peoples' ideas.
We just can't help ourselves.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Hi Grace.
GRACE HELBIG: Thank you so much for being here with us!
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: My pleasure, my pleasure.
GRACE HELBIG: She's been on a whirlwind tour of York City,
and we're her last stop.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Save the best last everybody.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah!
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yeah!
GRACE HELBIG: Toys, toys, toys, toys, toys!
We offer so many things for adults
here, it's really wonderful.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: It's true, it's true.
GRACE HELBIG: Now Yvette's going to help me with MFCFLTS,
my favorite comment from last Thursday's show.
Which comes from duh duh duh dah!
SuperGerard4.
he left what seems to be an international phone number.
And we thought that if he left it, we will call it.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: We're gonna call it.
GRACE HELBIG: So we're going to call it right now.
Hit it guys, hit that phone machine.
Make it happen.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Those who pray, start to pray right now.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh my gosh, I'm so nervous.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm really nervous too.
GRACE HELBIG: SuperGerard4.
SUPERGERARD4: Hello?
GRACE HELBIG: Hello?
Hello?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Hello?
GRACE HELBIG: Is this Gerard?
SUPERGERARD4: [SPEAKING ITALIAN]
GRACE HELBIG: Uh, bonjour.
Is this Gerard?
SUPERGERARD4: Si.
GRACE HELBIG: Que?
eh s'il vou plait.
SUPERGERARD4: Hello?
GRACE HELBIG: Wah?
eh, mi scusi mm pasta.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: [LAUGHTER]
GRACE HELBIG: The Florence, Florence, and the Machine.
Comprende?
SUPERGERARD4: No capisco.
GRACE HELBIG: No capisco, capisco, capisco.
Vafanapoli.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Ravioli?
GRACE HELBIG: [LAUGHTER]
Uh, bonjourno.
[BELL RINGS]
[BELL RINGS]
Oh, wow.
That--
I don't know how to feel about that.
I have--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I kinda feel like
someone did that to him.
GRACE HELBIG: I feel like we might have
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Started an international--
GRACE HELBIG: Forced ourselves upon him.
And possibly yeah, started some sort of international
conflict now.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I don't--
I felt like in the midst of that--
I felt like an ex-girlfriend, or some spurned
lover did that to him.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: But you said it's all
over YouTube right?
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, see, this is why we didn't feel bad.
We Googled this phone number before we did this, and it
turns out that he has left this phone number
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Someone.
GRACE HELBIG: On a lot of-- maybe a woman with a very
masculine sounding voice.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: [LAUGHTER]
GRACE HELBIG: He's left this phone number on a lot of
YouTube clips.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yes, and I was nervous because we were
going to put the whole number, and I told Grace maybe not, I
used to be a legal secretary.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, she- she schooled us on the legality of
the situation.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: So we blurred.
We blurred.
GRACE HELBIG: Out of our respect to what was a very
conversational human bring.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: [LAUGHTER]
GRACE HELBIG: Well, um, thank you, uh, SuperGerard4.
I don't know how super you are, but you had a voice that
said where is?
[LAUGHTER]
Anyway now it's time to talk to the rest of you internet.
We are going to answer some of your questions that you sent
to us through YouTube and Twitter, so let's start off
right now with one of those questions.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Let's do it.
GRACE HELBIG: What do we have on the Twitter?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: The Twitter.
GRACE HELBIG: This is from On The Cheap Tip.
What does Yvette recommend to help Grace
get over her sickness?
Yeah, I've been sick for the past couple days.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I will say this Grace.
GRACE HELBIG: Yes.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm not a doctor,
GRACE HELBIG: Mm-hmm.
She's a legal secretary.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: But I believe--
I'm a legal secretary by trade.
I believe Alka-Seltzer Cold Plus
GRACE HELBIG: Oh.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Gets it done.
Now, let me explain-- the fizziness gets the medicine to
you quicker.
It's been tested.
GRACE HELBIG: Really?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: It has.
GRACE HELBIG: Is that like how they say if you drink beer
through a straw it gets you drunker faster?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I believe that that
may be true as well--
GRACE HELBIG: OK.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: But I want you to chug this, I want
you to get a glass of water, and put a couple little
plop-plop fizz fizzes in--
GRACE HELBIG: Do we have any Alka-Selzer
here that we can give?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: the cold- the cold kind though, it's not
just any Alka-Seltzer.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh, OK.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And you'll be feeling better.
GRACE HELBIG: Really.
That's it?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yes.
That's it.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I've been doing um, uh, Emergen-C's.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Sweetie, those are preventative.
GRACE HELBIG: I know.
I figured that out today, as to why they weren't helping me
get better.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Back to the Twitters.
GRACE HELBIG: Let's take another Twitter question.
This is from Natalie Caceres.
Is October 19 going to come soon?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Hi Nataleeeee.
GRACE HELBIG: OK, maybe you should explain this for anyone
out there that doesn't
necessarily know the situation.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yes.
We at Community did a video because we were supposed to
premiere on October 19, which is also Gillian's birthday,
and we did not premiere.
GRACE HELBIG: Happy Birthday.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Happy belated Gillian.
Who plays Brita, we did not uh, premiere as we were
supposed to--
or as we thought we would, and so we did a video to the fans
saying that whenever we premiered, that day will be
October 19.
Nine--
Oh--
October nineteenth is in your heart.
GRACE HELBIG: Exactly.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: So, um, I don't know when October
nineteenth is going to be.
GRACE HELBIG: But it'll be a surprise, that's what makes it
really fun-- is that it's a--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: It'll be a surprise for everybody.
Isn't it exciting to have something to look forward to?
GRACE HELBIG: It's a surprise!
It's like getting your period every month.
When does it happen?
I don't know, it's a surprise.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I put mine into my calendar honey, I
know when mine's coming.
GRACE HELBIG: I'm not doing a lot of adult things very well
in my life, so--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: You're not.The
Emergen-C and now this?
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, I'm working on it.
You're helping me a lot today.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm glad pumpkin, I believe in you.
GRACE HELBIG: Let's take a comment.
This is from jimdidr.
I don't understand, capisco.
All I learned from two weeks in Italy three years ago, not
counting pizza and cappuccinos Oh, so he was saying.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Oh that's what it meant, he's--
I don't understand.
GRACE HELBIG: Ahh.
And I said mi scusi--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And I--
GRACE HELBIG: Which means excuse me.
B--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And I said ravioli, which means
delicious dinner.
GRACE HELBIG: Yes.
Exactly.
So he should've understood, what he didn't understand
about that is confusing to me.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Beyond me.
GRACE HELBIG: He needs some help in his understandings of
his own language.
Let's take another comment.
This is from humanvsrobots.
Can we get Grace on an episode of Community?
I'd like that very much.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Aww.
GRACE HELBIG: Aww.
I'd like that very much, but that's not up to
either one of us here.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: That's so true.
I was thinking can we get that question to some writers on
Community and the producers.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, so if you know any of their email
addresses, just send that away, but thank you.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: You'd be great on Community.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah I could be um--
I could be the-- any kind of stalker, I'm
very good at being.
I can be the girl that's sick a lot.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Oh no.
GRACE HELBIG: Uh, I can be the girl that's like kind of a
Latchkey kid, didn't know how to like, raise herself.
So--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: These are a lot of options, Community
writers, she's really writing it for you.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, all of that.
I can be the fake Italian exchange student, all of this,
right there.
Let's take another Twitter question!
This is from BearikaJ.
How's it going?
I was wondering who of the cast of Community relates to
their character outside of the show?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Ooh, that's a good question.
Um, probably me.
Well, I--
you see what I'm talk--
GRACE HELBIG: How many children do you have?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I have none, and I'm not married, and
I don't talk like Shirley.
As you can see, this is my regular voice.
I--
I relate to her.
I understand her desire to always try to
do the right thing.
She messes up, but she tries.
GRACE HELBIG: She's nurturing.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: She's nurturing, and
loving, and I am.
I'm taking care of you today.
So maybe me.
Uh, maybe--
No one else is really like their character I would say.
GRACE HELBIG: That means that they're all very good actors.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: All ver-- except for me.
GRACE HELBIG: Except--
[LAUGHTER]
No she just lives it.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: There it is.
There it is, I'm method.
GRACE HELBIG: No she's been- She's so method, that she's
convinced herself that her life is
now like her character.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Now like my character,
single woman, yes.
GRACE HELBIG: That's interesting.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Twitter!
GRACE HELBIG: Let's take a Twitter question!
This is from RadioBomb.
Is there anything you can tell Community fans about this
upcoming season?
Ooh.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I know.
GRACE HELBIG: Hi Kate.
Any buzz words you can drop?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Um, so-- most of this you probably
already heard, um--
GRACE HELBIG: Because the internet, we found out, knows
everything about the show before the people on the show
know about the show.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Twitter knows more about Community
than I do, so--
GRACE HELBIG: Oh,you have a very active
Twitter, which is helpful.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I do, but that's how I find out stuff,
because I know everyone finds out before me.
GRACE HELBIG: You gotta snoop.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I just found out that we're up for
People's Choice Award, which--
GRACE HELBIG: Congratulations!
GRACE HELBIG: Well--
OK well no, never mind.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I said that wrong Grace.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: That was on me.
That enh!
Was like did you just say that Yvette?
We're up to be nominated.
Which is for us--
GRACE HELBIG: Wait.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: For Community, calm down.
For Community that's like an award.
To be up for a nomination--
GRACE HELBIG: I didn't even know that that was a thing.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: It just means that-- it just means--
GRACE HELBIG: That you can be
nominated to maybe be nominated?
[LAUGH]
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I think whomp whomp.
I think that's what it means.
GRACE HELBIG: No you made it past the first round.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Well there's more-- there's like
12,000 rounds, I think.
For People's Choice Awards, it's not just like
the first one, so--
GRACE HELBIG: But the people have chosen you
guys again, and again.
You're a fan favorite.
It's really true.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: That's true- well that's nice.
And I forgot what the original question was.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh, from the season four, and you sort of--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Oh, oh, uh, uh--
Troy and Brita, um, there possibly, may be something
there that we, you know.
And we're going to go to maybe a haunted house.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh my god, I know that game.
Ugh, man.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: There's something coming you guys.
You're gonna like it a lot.
GRACE HELBIG: Speaking of Halloween.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Speaking of Halloween.
GRACE HELBIG: Let's take another Twitter
question shall we?
This is from Spacetimebomb, not a question, but Yvette,
ask all the human beings to vote for Community in the
Peoples Choice Awards.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: RIght, can someone explain to me--
GRACE HELBIG: So wait-- how do they do--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Can someone explain to me--
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yes, w-- somebody tweet me, and let me
know what I-- if I'm right or wrong.
Are we up for an award?
Are we in the running to be?
GRACE HELBIG: So maybe--
OK, I assume, and you know what happens when you assume,
but I'm going to do it anyway.
But there's probably a website that you go to to vote for who
you want to be on the award show nominated.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Okay, so I think that's the link I saw,
so I just don't know if it's-- if you're voting for the
award, or if you're voting for us to be considered for that--
that Viewer's Choice award.
People's Choice.
For sure.
GRACE HELBIG: You guys-- you guys are very good at figuring
this stuff out.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yeah figure this out for me, I've
been doing press for five days I'm ti- two days I'm tired.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, help her out.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Help me.
GRACE HELBIG: And get them nominated.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yeah!
GRACE HELBIG: Get them at least to the second round.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yeah don't
let us be first rounders.
[LAUGHTER]
GRACE HELBIG: Ha!
It's like that guy you see at every job audition that you're
like-- job audition?
Interview.
GRACE HELBIG: I don't think-- we're both--
she's sick, I'm tired.
It's just [INAUDIBLE].
GRACE HELBIG: We're just sick and tired.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: We're sick and tired.
That's the name of our show!
GRACE HELBIG: Sick and tired!
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Sick and tired!
GRACE HELBIG: Oh, someone develop it for us.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Somebody develop it for us.
OK--
GRACE HELBIG: Let's take another comment.
This is the from Alison Morton.
What does the name Yvette mean?
There's some sort of meaning right?
If not, make one up.
Smiley face.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: You know what?
I think Yvette means the Archer.
I know my name means-- there's two things it's
either Yvette or Nicole.
GRACE HELBIG: Katniss.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: One of them means the Archer, and one
of them means victory of the people.
I think Nicole is victory of the people, so I think Yvette
is the Archer.
I've never understood what that--
how that-- what I do with that.
GRACE HELBIG: So you are Katniss Everdeen.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: huh!
Did you read the people?
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm Katniss Everdeen.
GRACE HELBIG: You are.
We just figured out your Halloween costume.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm Katniss Everdeen everybody!
GRACE HELBIG: Oh my god, you were born.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: That's awesome!
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, you're the girl on fire.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm a archer, and I'm the victory of
the people.
GRACE HELBIG: Duh!
It's been sitting in front of you all along.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: My whole l- My destiny has been
revealed on mydamnchannel, I love it.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
Let's take another Twitter question.
This is from MattMan1K.
What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever given?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Ever given?
GRACE HELBIG: Whooo.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Is this for both of us?
GRACE HELBIG: I guess so.
GRACE HELBIG: You go first.
GRACE HELBIG: I think the greatest piece of advice that
I have ever given is that you should always be having fun--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Mmm.
GRACE HELBIG: with whatever you're doing.
Because if you're doing either a job--
or you're--
ooh, I'm bleeding.
Oh, that's how much fun I was having.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: How did you hurt
yourself at this table?
GRACE HELBIG: I don't know!
Something is haunted about this theater already.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Sick, injured, and tired.
GRACE HELBIG: Um If--
if you're in a relationship, or you're in a job or
something that you're not having fun in, you should not
be in that--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: You should not be in it.
Agreed.
GRACE HELBIG: job or relationship or anything.
And you should be searching for what it is that you really
enjoy, and have fun doing.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I will receive that advice.
The best advice I think I've ever given is something that I
learned in my life, and that's to find the thing that's
unique about you, and that will be the thing that you--
your destiny is tied to.
I was talking about this on Anderson the other day.
A lot of people feel like oh, I have a big forehead, Um--
I have b-- buck teeth, or I--
I--
I--
I'm shy.
Whatever you think your thing is that says you can't do it,
nine times out of 10, that's the thing that will make you
great,
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And make you stand out.
So instead of trying to hide who you are, and become what
the masses think you should be, let your freak flag fly,
and just be gloriously you with a big forehead, buck
teeth, and you know, whatever it is, let it go, and be that
person,
GRACE HELBIG: You know--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: That's where your
success will come from.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
You Pat [INAUDIBLE] doing that.
She's got that scar on her arm, and she just shows it,
and I love it.
I love it.
I love her for it.
Let's take another comment.
This is from GoonerG123 Grace, got Halloween costume for you.
Dress as a jar of honey draped in a duvet.
Cut out eyeholes.
What are you?
Honey Boo-Boo-.
Oh, I get it.
we--
It was a long walk.
But we got there.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: It was a long walk to that one boy.
We had to pack a lunch for that one.
We got there though.
The whole point is you got there.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, and I asked Yvette before if she's
being something for Halloween, and you're not really
celebrating Halloween.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm not.
I'm not cele-- celebrating Halloween because most of my
life I lived in an apartment, so we weren't used to giving
out candy, and then also in the inner city, so it really
was not safe.
It's not about--
GRACE HELBIG: Where're you from?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm from East Cleveland.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: It's not about razor blades in apples,
it's gun play.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh!
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: So we didn't trick or treat for that
reason, and then now that I'm older, it's like
you know, I'm tired.
I'm tired of the sick and tired, I just--
GRACE HELBIG: And you, you dress up every day for work.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I do.
I don't want to put on makeup and a girdle and
go out in the world.
GRACE HELBIG: Exactly.
I hear you.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Ooh, there's a
girdle part of Halloween?
What'd I just say?
Why are you wearing a girdle on Halloween?
GRACE HELBIG: It's your choice.
You let that freak flag fly.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Let that freak flag fly [LAUGHTER].
GRACE HELBIG: If girdles are your thing, you
make it your thing.
Let's take another comment.
This is from Ajay Sherma.
Yvette, do you pull a lot of pranks on set?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I I do not pull any pranks onset,
because I believe in-- in uh, it coming back to you.
GRACE HELBIG: Karma?
Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Karma's real.
Um, Donald Glover pulls a lot of pranks,
GRACE HELBIG: I can believe that.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And it usually
involves his own nudity.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Donald will--
Donald will pull his pants down at the drop of--
I've seen his bare ass probably, more times than I've
seen my own.
I haven't seen my own in years.
I've seen Donald's at least twice a week.
Um, so Donald pulls a lot of pranks, and uh, Joel McHale.
And the one thing Joel does is this.
[PINCHES GRACE]
GRACE HELBIG: Ugh, no, that's not a fun thing.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: That's not fun!
GRACE HELBIG: That's not a fun feeling.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: You're literally in the middle of an
interview, I'm sorry.
She--
The he goes right into your pit.
And he's 12,000 feet tall,
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: So it comes-- it
gets- it gets in there.
GRACE HELBIG: It come from a place.
[LAUGHTER]
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And you know, it's a-- that's a se--
that's a delicate-- that's a private region.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, exactly.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Don't want anybody in my pit.
GRACE HELBIG: You forget if--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And what if you're a
little moist in there?
GRACE HELBIG: Oh yeah, it's happening.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yeah that's what I'm saying, and
then you get s-- a little finger.
GRACE HELBIG: Ugh.
Yeah, you forget that this is an awkward place.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm squirming now.
So it's really a pr- it's more private than my boobs.
I would rather you go into my boobs than go into my pit.
GRACE HELBIG: You heard it here first.
[LAUGHTER]
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: That's not an invitation to anyone
I'm just saying on the range of things I
hate, that's the order.
GRACE HELBIG: OK, let's take another comment.
This is from Henerr0.
Will we be seeing Helen DuBois in any other Nickelodeon
programmes?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Oh, I love how he
wrote that whole thing.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Um, I am in love and beholden to Dan
Schneider, who created 1,000 shows on Nickelodeon,
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: But also Drake and Josh,
which I used to do.
So anytime he asks me to come back-- asks me to come back
and be Helen, I will do it.
GRACE HELBIG: And that's the movie theater manager.
Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yes.
I did Helen for four years on Drake and Josh, I did one
episode of Victorious, wanted to do more, but it
just didn't work out.
And then I also did a cameo in iCarly.
GRACE HELBIG: What?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: There's one scene in iCarly where
she's at a-- in a art--
art class,
GRACE HELBIG: Uh-huh.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And I'm uncredited, I have no lines--
GRACE HELBIG: Ha!
Find it.
Now go find it.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm just randomly sitting in the--
randomly sitting in the art class.
It's probably from the first or second season.
GRACE HELBIG: That's so great.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And that's because I just--
I love them, and I kind of stalk
GRACE HELBIG: It's just a little Easter egg.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yeah I kind of stalk the set, so i-
GRACE HELBIG: Ha ha!
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: If I'm there, and I got makeup on,
they'll throw me in, so I would love that.
That would make me very happy.
GRACE HELBIG: That- have you ever worked in movie theater
in real life?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I have not.
I used to work at a video store, but
never a movie theater.
GRACE HELBIG: OK, that's kind of-- similar.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Vid Star Video.
Uh, in Ohio.
Uh, Blockbuster said no-- no more.
GRACE HELBIG: Really?
Blockbuster poo-pooed that.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And they went-- they went bye-bye.
And I remember the owner of Vid Star.
And this was like in the er--
late '80s or whatever.
She came in, and she was like um, you know there's a new
thing coming.
It's-- it's-- go-- they say it's going to sweep the
nation, And I don't know how long we're all
going to have jobs.
[LAUGHTER]
GRACE HELBIG: That sounds like--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And i just remember thinking when--
come on, calm down.
It's OK.
Vid Star is no more.
GRACE HELBIG: That sounds like uh, Independence Day.
There's something coming, and i'ts going
to sweep our nation.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: It's going to kill you.
GRACE HELBIG: Uh, let's take another comment.
This is from Sean Kalinoski.
Hi Beth, I love you!
Close.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Are you close?
GRACE HELBIG: And for Yvette, I was wondering if we can be
expecting another Paintball episode?
Love Community you're awesome.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Whoomp-whoomp.
GRACE HELBIG: Beth is going to be here tomorrow for the show.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Well thank you, Thank you Steve.
[INAUDIBLE].
Thanks Steve.
Her name is Grace.
Anyway, um, I--
God bless ya-- that was, you know--
GRACE HELBIG: The paintball episode was great.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: You know what I--
I don't know if there's going to be another paintball.
I do know that shooting have paintball is very grueling for
everyone involved.
From props to set design, to us in the right it's really
like a-- a marathon.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: So I feel like Dan Harmen, like, put--
he put his mark on that in a way that we-- it ki--
I think it's a done.
It's a trilogy.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: There's three of them, I think each of
them are solid and stand- great standalone episodes, so
I'd be OK if the-- the one last year with Star
Wars was the end.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
I mean--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I mean, or two years-- was
it two years ago?
Yeah it was the end.
But we- you never know.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah, you know what happened when they kept
adding more Star Wars episodes.
JarJar Binks.
You guys want a JarJar Binks on your hand?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: He's a friend of mine, I like JarJar.
GRACE HELBIG: I love JarJar Binks.
I call these guys the Gungan army all the time.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Alright--
You know what--
I-- you just gained points with me.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh really?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I'm a Star Wars person too honey.
GRACE HELBIG: I'm like sort of Star Wars.
I'm kind of a fake Star Wars fan.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Really?
You impressed me with that.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh, OK.
That's my only--
don't ask me anything else.
Let's leave it that you have that image of me right now.
Let's take another comment.
This is from 23cookies007.
what's Shirley's favorite Halloween costume?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Um, my favorite costume as Shirley,
well actually my favorite costume is this year.
But I can't tell you what that is because the episode--
GRACE HELBIG: Ooh.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: hasn't aired you know, it might be
Valentine's Day when you see it, so I don't want
to spoil you guy.
Um, but I really loved the year that she was um, Miss
Piggy or uh, Glenda the Good Witch.
She only thought she was Glenda.
Everyone else told her she was Miss Piggy.
It's just the nerve.
But that little busty pink-- and the blonde wig, it was
dr-- pink dress and the blonde wig, it was really cool.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh, that's so great.
You're living every girl's-- little girl's fantasy.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I know.
GRACE HELBIG: Aw, how sweet.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yes.
GRACE HELBIG: Shall we take another comment?
Maybe one more for good--
For good measure?
This is from Glowstick06.
Yvette, what's your favorite Community episode?
Ooh, that must be hard.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: You know--
Yeah, I have so many to choose, that I like.
I really love um, the Law and Order episode.
GRACE HELBIG: Ah, yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Because I'm a Law and Order geek.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: So I loved that one.
And um, I mean Paintball,
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I mean come on.
And then we have a flashback episode in the first-- the
first flashback episode I really love.
GRACE HELBIG: Now do you guys get any say in like--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: You see I burped a little bit.
GRACE HELBIG: It's OK.
I burp.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I had a little burp that I tried n--
to keep you guys, but I feel like we're close enough, I
shouldn't hide these things.
GRACE HELBIG: It's the internet.
You can just--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: So that was a burp.
GRACE HELBIG: You let that freak flag fly.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Let that freak flag fly.
GRACE HELBIG: Um, do you guys have any say in themes of
episodes at all?
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: I didn't think we did, but um I--
something's coming up I hear, that's something I've been
asking for.
So I can't say what it is, but if you go back and like the
last couple of interviews we did as a group, and they asked
me what I-- what I really wanted--
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: to happen on the show, it may be
happening but I won't confirm which it is, but if that
happens, and, you know, Malcolm Jamal
Warner plays my husband--
Theo from Cosby Show plays my husband show.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And that is something that I asked for
in the first season, and it happened in the
second or third, so.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh my god!
Ask--
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Dreams do come true!
Keep dreaming kiddos!
GRACE HELBIG: Ask--
ask and you shall receive.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Keep dreaming.
GRACE HELBIG: What do I want?
I want Pat Sajak to be my fake husband on MyDamnChannel live.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Is that what you want?
GRACE HELBIG: Yes.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Really?
GRACE HELBIG: Very much so.
I've thought it through on a daily basis.
Let's take another Twitter question.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Ryan Gosling is available for you
to wish for.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh yeah!
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: And nothing against Pat, he's
great, but I just think you should--
you know.
GRACE HELBIG: Aim higher.
[LAUGHTER]
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Aim.
GRACE HELBIG: Let's take a Twitter question.
It's from idiotwithcurls.
Oh, don't be so self deprecating.
Describe your character Shirley in three words.
Go!
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Uh, loving,
GRACE HELBIG: Uh-huh.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Uh, faithful, and crazy.
GRACE HELBIG: Oooh.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Shirley's crazy, she's a mess.
GRACE HELBIG: Yeah.
She's kind of great though, it makes her so
relatable and human.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Yeah, she's great, I like her.
I like her.
GRACE HELBIG: Oh, we all like her too, and I like that you
were on the show with me today.
YVETTE NICOLE BROWN: Oh honey.
Why do we wrap?
Why are we wrapping?
GRACE HELBIG: I know, we were on a roll.
