Hey, I thought I'd make my first vlog in a while
In order to show you this fella
This is the iPad2 I recently got as a souvenir when I visited the US
It still isn't on sale in Japan yet
So I thought I would show it to you
An actual working iPad2
I picked this up on a business trip to Hawaii
It was the last one in stock at the local Walmart
So I was able to get my hands on it and buy it right away
These things are usually sold cheaper in the US anyway
And I just had to have it...
So the reason I wanted one
The reason I didn't pick up the original iPad was for the lack of a camera
I wanted that for making vlogs and fun
I couldn't accept it was missing
So I decided not to get it
So I got interested when I heard cameras would be on the iPad2
That's why I got this
Actually, lately I have been wanting to pick up an Android tablet to try out
But this is just so easy to use
So I got it for our living room to replace the Sony living room PC my wife uses
I don't know why so many computers slow down and become unuseable after 3 years
Also, the computer screen cables and stuff are a hassle in the living room
With the small screen on the coffee table, the cables are in the way
So for something really light and compact like this, and with no wires
So it really doesn't get in the way at all
And I figured that iOS is easy for anyone to use
So I thought this would be good and bought it
I thought I would get this for my wife and get something Android for myself
However, after using this for a few days, the conclusion I came to is
Even though I have an iPhone and iPod Touch, it still is more fun than I anticipated
I didn't have an iPad1 so it is hard to compare directly
But showing my friends, they are blown away first by how thin it is
It also has gotten a lot lighter
Not only is it lighter, but the performance also is faster, even than my already fast iPod Touch
The animation and feeling is super smooth
Application boot and response is super fast
And also as someone who has never used a tablet computer before
I also had no idea that there were so many specialized iPad apps
And web pages too. Take Flipboard for example
I can look at my own reader...
So I can take my RSS feeds I always read
And read it like a book
This is much more fun than just reading RSS, Twitter or Hootsuite off the computer screen
And it really is just a lot easier to browse with these interfaces
Here is Hootsuite which I like to use
It makes reading more fun
You know, I don't really feel much urge to play games on this
For me, the main appeal is the cameras
Just the other day, rather than Facetime, I jumped straight into using Skype
All my family use Skype from their PCs which makes it better for me
And found I could video chat on Skype with this no problem at all
Having the video of my parent's face on the whole screen
And I was able to chat using the iPad
That was really cool
There are also lots of cool apps like the ones JetDaisuke shows off
Like Vocaloid and so on
As a former "kind-of" DJ, I really loved this full featured DJ app
It's amazing, it really is as full featured as expensive PC software
It's set up so you really can do everything just with this
Beat syncing, everything
So there are heaps of really cool apps, especially for music
So it's easy to use, light, powerful
I mean, I have a very powerful light 1kg Sony Vaio Z laptop PC
That I always carry around with me
But lately, I just leave the PC and carry this around
I got this for my wife, but I get the feeling I will end up getting another for myself
Another thing that was kinda cool was
Was the camera connection kit
I really wish they had internal USB and SD drives on this
But hey, you go and buy this for 3000 yen
So using the USB dongle...
So with this, I mean sure, there is the Apple iPad dock keyboard
But with this, I can use my own home USB wireless Elecom... oh Sanwa... keyboard
This is for connecting cameras but you plug in the USB plug for the keyboard
When you connect, it gives you a warning you can't use it
But just ignore that
And go find an App you can type text into...
I'm going to use BlogPress...
So let's try..

So even if you hate the onscreen keyboard
And I think you can do this on the iPod as well
I thought it was cool when I realized I could do this
So something this light, this cool
I wanted the white model but this was the last one in the shop
I figured hey, why not...
But it really is cool
I want to support Android but no one else yet makes anything that comes close to this
I really want Japanese makers to step up to the plate on this
This really is the standard
So if you already have an iPad1, I didn't get that because for me the camera was a must
But even my friends with iPads were pretty impressed with this
So I really can recommend it
It really is better than I was expecting it to be
So go check it out when it goes on sale in Japan
