BETH HOYT: The Dog Days lead star is here, the Dog Days
Zachary Gordon's right there.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
BETH HOYT: Oh, hi you guys.
It's Tuesday and we're My Damn Channel Live, and I'm Beth
Hoyt, and you're you.
And if you've been around, then you know that today,
we're doing an Olympics episode.
And if you're new here, guess what-- on Tuesdays right now,
we're doing Olympics episodes, because I am on team Super
Jackal Hawk Tiger Explosion, headed by Wheezy Waiter.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
BETH HOYT: Look at that.
That's my team and the song that was made for us by
Twitchy Sirenixie.
Wheezy Waiter was here last week for an Olympic--
Olympic episode and today, we have a guest with much less
facial hair, but who is just as awesome.
It's Zachary Gordon, star of the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid
movies, the third of which--
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid 3: Dog Days comes out this Friday.
So we'll be talking about that and doing Olympic style
competition later.
Um, FYI guys, he's in a cast.
But not that that gives me an advantage.
I'm pretty much permanently injured
everywhere all the time.
OK, so I love the summer Olympics like
like super duper hard.
I love competitions.
I love athletes.
I love the tear-jerking back stories.
A lot of people don't get the Olympics.
They think-- like they think they're weird sports, or
they're upset that they don't get to
watch the news on MSNBC.
And some people say that they're--
that they're boring.
OK, well, in a Beth of fresh air, I'd like to give you some
reasons why they're awesome and captivating.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
BETH HOYT: All right, have you watched water--
water polo?
Have you watched it?
They are hilariously vicious with each other.
And, and they wear these little bonnets that have these
ear protectors.
And just when you start thinking about how their
bonnets are really cute, one of them just like completely
takes the other one out.
It's amazing.
OK, next, women's gymnastics on the floor routine.
They all claim to be trained in ballet, and they have to do
dance moves, but they're totally like
mechanical and robotic.
And they're all just-- they're so muscular.
It's just want--
they're like--
like they're just completely you know,
mandatory dance moves.
It's really fun to watch with your friends.
Speaking of friends-- synchronized diving.
OK, not only is it beautiful and it's amazing, but it's fun
to muse on relationships of two divers.
For instance, the US women's team, they were total besties,
and it showed.
And the Canadians women team--
they--
something happened.
And they do not hang out.
Um, they got last place, or bronze, or whatever you want
to call it.
And the Chinese teams, um, doesn't matter.
They--
well, they're just-- they're going to win, so that doesn't
matter for them.
And that's just a little Beth of fresh air.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
BETH HOYT: Now you guys, during our Olympic coverage,
we've been highlighting some of our most triumphant moments
from the show.
Check this out and when we come back, Zach
Gordon will be here.
Here is an Olympic moment in My Damn Channel Live history.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
BETH HOYT: Hey friends, look who's here.
It's Zachary Gordon.
Thank you so much for coming, Zach.
ZACHARY GORDON: Oh, my pleasure.
BETH HOYT: Awesome.
I'm so glad you're here.
You've got a big week coming up.
Friday, your movie comes out.
This is exciting.
ZACHARY GORDON: Yeah, it's all happening so fast.
It's crazy.
BETH HOYT: But this is the third time.
You're like a pro by now--
I mean, this series, anyway.
Not like this is your first movie, anyway.
ZACHARY GORDON: Yeah, I mean, but I--
I guess you could say I'm familiar with the feeling and
everything, but it's--
I'm still excited.
BETH HOYT: I love-- the trailer's like, it's the
perfect summer movie.
And you're doing some non-wimpy things like diving
off a high dive.
Are you afraid of heights?
ZACHARY GORDON: Not really.
When uh--
maybe when you're in like a hot air balloon or something,
which I experienced.
Uh--
BETH HOYT: Really?
ZACHARY GORDON: I almost died, but that's a long story.
BETH HOYT: Oh my gosh.
I almost died just thinking about being
in a hot air balloon.
I'm afraid of heights.
ZACHARY GORDON: Just thinking about the experience.
BETH HOYT: Your memory of it, yeah.
And I have-- don't have any bad memories.
I'm just--
I'm fearful of heights, speed, a lot of things.
Are you watching the Olympics?
Are you watching diving in the Olympics and stuff?
ZACHARY GORDON: I've got to be honest, I--
this is no excuse--
I mean, I've been busy somewhat you know with press
and everything.
But it's just that--
BETH HOYT: You were promoting a movie that
you're the star of.
I guess that's somewhat of an excuse.
I'll give you that a little bit.
ZACHARY GORDON: Yeah, yeah.
BETH HOYT: Wait, was there a but?
Was there but that I'm--
that was coming up?
ZACHARY GORDON: Yeah.
But I--
I should--
I should be watching some of it, yeah.
Because I--
I mean, I'm a huge fan of you know, of
like the running stuff.
I just--
I don't even know how they--
BETH HOYT: It didn't start yet.
It's OK.
You can still catch up on that.
Yeah.
Um, OK awesome.
Let's start talking with our audience.
We have a live comment, and this is-- it's a tweet.
And it is from KyleSand3rz--
"Hey zach, I just wanna say that you inspired me from your
work as an actor and I hope I get a chance to meet you.
#superstar."
ZACHARY GORDON: Wow.
Well, thank you very much.
BETH HOYT: That's not a question.
It's just like a really feel-good comment.
ZACHARY GORDON: Hey, that makes me feel good as an actor
that I did my job.
BETH HOYT: You sure did.
That's awesome.
And as a human being, inspiring someone.
Maybe someday you will meet.
Um That's-- we're just going to put that out
there in the universe.
ZACHARY GORDON: Hopefully I get to meet you one day.
BETH HOYT: Yeah.
OK, now we're going to do something sporty, because this
is our Olympic episode.
Two of the big events happening right now that
you're missing out on-- but it's OK, because we're going
to do it here-- is badminton and table tennis.
And we figured, why not combine the two
and just make them--
make them double as fun.
So we're going to have rackets.
And I understand you saying earlier that you are good at
racquetball and table tennis.
ZACHARY GORDON: Well, I'm not good at it, but while we were
filming the movie--
BETH HOYT: You are.
ZACHARY GORDON: --whenever we had like two-minute breaks
where I finished my schoolwork for the day, I could, you
know, play just for a bit.
But it was fun.
BETH HOYT: OK, I was hoping to just like-- just pick an
arbitrary sport that we could be equal at.
I'm--
I lose a lot, and I just really like to win, so this is
already looking like it's going to be
in your favor, but--
ZACHARY GORDON: This is just-- you know, this is warming up.
So we're--
BETH HOYT: Right.
So we're just going to warm up here.
And let's just uh warm up each by like bobbing it
you know on our own.
I am not trying to sabotage you, I swear.
You stuck your racket in my-- in my space.
I wasn't trying to sabotage you.
OK, so we're just going to do this while we answer some
Twitter questions.
I can't read and bob, so I'm going to look--
I'm going to read and you just keep going.
First tweet is from uh Mike--
Micaela Carroll, micaelarne16--
"How many Wimpy Kid movies are there going to be?"
ZACHARY GORDON: Uh hopefully we do another one.
I mean, uh, it all depends on how the third one does, so
please go to see the movie.
BETH HOYT: Go.
ZACHARY GORDON: Please.
I'm really looking forward, you know,
for your guys' opinion.
I'm-- you know, I really think you'll like it.
BETH HOYT: Yeah, I think you will, too.
And that was a please.
He gave you good manners.
Next up is a comment from YouTube.
Um, LittleKat99--
"Are u going to come to the uk and if u r whenand will u do a
meet up and will you go out with me"--
wiv me-- "and love u lots XOXO." That's a lot, there.
Are you going to the UK, first of all?
ZACHARY GORDON: Well I have been to the UK.
Hopefully soon I do.
I'm not exactly sure, but hopefully.
BETH HOYT: That's a maybe.
If you do--
since that's a maybe, you could say maybe you'll be
doing a meet-up.
But you probably will.
ZACHARY GORDON: Oh.
Bounce off the header.
BETH HOYT: Oh, this is getting dangerous.
He took my ball.
That was my ball.
ZACHARY GORDON: OK, well, you can--
BETH HOYT: It's OK, I'm a little-- no,
you keep that one.
It's fine, you earned it.
Um and the next one is, will you go out with her-- wiv her?
ZACHARY GORDON: Uh--
you know, I don't really-- maybe if I get to know you,
you never know.
BETH HOYT: A lot of maybes.
You never know.
Next comment is from xcy181--
"What was it like filming the third movie?" Yeah, how was it
different from the first two?
ZACHARY GORDON: Wow, I mean, uh, since the first two were
based you know during school, it was pretty interesting,
because we got to go to a lot of different locations than
just you know the school that we filmed at.
And uh, it was pretty cool.
I mean, definitely I--
BETH HOYT: You mean in this third one you got to go a lot
of different locations?
ZACHARY GORDON: Yeah.
Um--
BETH HOYT: Oh gosh--
ZACHARY GORDON: And I got to--
I really got to bond with Steve Zahn who plays
my dad in the film.
BETH HOYT: Cool, he's awesome.
ZACHARY GORDON: Yeah, that's basically what the whole third
film revolves around-- our relationship, so--
BETH HOYT: Spoiler.
ZACHARY GORDON: No, no, hey, that's the-- that's the--
oh-- ah--
winner.
BETH HOYT: We aren't competing yet, but I feel like I--
like, you know, because you called me winner that I won.
OK, next comment from YouTube is from theprettiepixie123--
"What actor/actress would you love to work with?"
ZACHARY GORDON: You know, actress Meryl Streep, actor
Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
You know, the list really goes on, but hopefully those do.
BETH HOYT: I like that you have some go-tos.
Um, did you see uh--
did you see Dark Knight-- did you just see Joseph
Gordon-Levitt in that?
ZACHARY GORDON: I saw it that-- the opening weekend, so
he was really good.
I really admire him as an actor, since I've worked with
a lot of people who have worked with him, so.
BETH HOYT: I see a similarity.
You have like a similar great energy.
I think that's a good person to look up to, and
that's good for you.
I think that uh-- yeah, you're the next one.
OK, next comment is from uh TJainera--
"What's the most fun--" sorry if I butchered your name--
"what's the most funniest thing you've ever done?" And
then this face--
can you do-- do you know that smiley face?
That's that one.
ZACHARY GORDON: Yes I do.
Uh I--
BETH HOYT: Let me see it.
That's pretty much what--
I think it's more of a--
a dead eye and then a--
yeah.
ZACHARY GORDON: Maybe I--
I'll have to work on that.
BETH HOYT: I think we're getting there.
Uh--
ZACHARY GORDON: You know, a lot of things that are really
funny happen to me.
I--
I can't really choose one, you know, right off of
the top of my head.
But, you know, I guess filming the whole
movie was really fun.
But you'll have to see the movie to find out what really
awesome scenes were fun.
So, please go see it.
BETH HOYT: Incentives.
All right, next one is a-- let's see if I can read this
while doing it.
OK, is uh-- oh, I can't.
ashtinc123 "What's your favorite food?"
Oh, that's a good--
I love that question.
ZACHARY GORDON: My favorite food--
if I had to pick one--
BETH HOYT: Let's do two categories.
Let's do food and then dessert.
ZACHARY GORDON: Oh, food, I would have to say maybe hot
dogs from this place called King's in California.
BETH HOYT: Oh yeah?
What do you put on it?
ZACHARY GORDON: Uh, yeah I--
I go just plain.
BETH HOYT: Oh, really?
ZACHARY GORDON: Yeah, it might sound--
BETH HOYT: It's that good of a hot dog, or do you just not
like condiments?
ZACHARY GORDON: Oh, oh--
oh.
BETH HOYT: It was too complicated.
That was too complicated.
All right, and your favorite dessert?
ZACHARY GORDON: Uh, my favorite dessert's probably
ice cream sundae--
a lot of chocolate and fudge.
BETH HOYT: Oh, man.
I wa--
I want one.
OK, so are you feeling warm?
Are you feeling warmed up?
ZACHARY GORDON: I'm feeling warmed up, yeah.
BETH HOYT: Awesome, because we're going to have a real
Olympic competition in a second.
There will be a gold medal for the winner.
Let's just prepare ourselves by watching one more Olympic
moment in My Damn Channel Live history.
See you in a sec.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
BETH HOYT: OK, we're back.
We've got a net up.
It's time for You Got Served.
Awesome.
The game we're trying to keep--
the game is we're going to try and keep the ping-pong balls
going back and forth between us real friendly-like.
But if you screw up, then the other person
gets a point, so--
ZACHARY GORDON: No competitive-- no
competitiveness, though--
BETH HOYT: No, no, none of that.
But there will be a winner.
Krister here's our head writer.
He's going to be keeping score.
Um, his word is final.
KRISTER: My word is final.
BETH HOYT: Are you ready?
ZACHARY GORDON: I'm ready.
BETH HOYT: All right, Zach.
So the ball-- we'll switch.
OK, one--
oh god.
ZACHARY GORDON: Oh no.
KRISTER: Point, Zach.
ZACHARY GORDON: Yes.
BETH HOYT: All right.
KRISTER: 1-0, Zach.
BETH HOYT: OK, he's favoring.
One, two--
KRISTER: 2-0, Zach.
BETH HOYT: All right, here we go.
Pull yourself together, Beth.
One, two, three, four, five--
KRISTER: Point, Beth.
3-1, Zach.
BETH HOYT: OK, here we go.
Nate's coming at you.
One-- oh god--
KRISTER: Point, Beth.
BETH HOYT: Yes.
KRISTER: 3-2.
BETH HOYT: All right.
One, two, oh three, oh four, five--
KRISTER: Double hit, Beth.
Point, Zach.
3-2, Zach.
BETH HOYT: OK.
Nate's bring-- throwing you a ball.
One, oh--
KRISTER: Point, Nate.
BETH HOYT: What?
KRISTER: 3-2, Zach.
BETH HOYT: One, two--
KRISTER: Point, Beth.
3-3.
BETH HOYT: OK.
One, oh--
KRISTER: Re-do.
BETH HOYT: Re-do.
KRISTER: 3-3.
BETH HOYT: One, two, three, four--
KRISTER: Point, Zach.
4-3, Zach.
BETH HOYT: One, two, three, four--
KRISTER: Point, Beth.
Too hard, Zach.
4-4.
BETH HOYT: One--
KRISTER: That's bad throw by Nate.
It's still 4-4.
BETH HOYT: Boo, Nate.
If someone loses it's going to be you.
ZACHARY GORDON: I like these calls, though.
KRISTER: Re-do.
BETH HOYT: Nate, pull yourself together.
One, two, three, oh--
KRISTER: Point, Zach.
5-4.
BETH HOYT: One, two, three, oh-- ah-- ah!
KRISTER: Point, Zach.
6-4, Zach.
BETH HOYT: I put myself in danger!
Two, three--
KRISTER: Too hard by Zach.
That's 6-5, Zach.
BETH HOYT: OK.
One-- oh--
I could've reached for that.
KRISTER: That's a point.
7-5, Zach.
BETH HOYT: One--
ZACHARY GORDON: Oh--
KRISTER: Double hit.
That's 8-5, Zach.
ZACHARY GORDON: Yes.
Good call.
BETH HOYT: One, two, ah--
KRISTER: Too far.
8-6, Zach.
BETH HOYT: One--
OK, dude.
KRISTER: Little weak, Zach.
8-7, Zach.
BETH HOYT: Two--
KRISTER: Uh-oh, 8-8, 8-8.
One more, here we go.
BETH HOYT: And--
KRISTER: And--
That's a point.
That's 9-8, Zach.
Multiball!
BETH HOYT: Multiball!
Ah!
One, two, three, four, five, OK, six, concentrate, seven--
oh god-- eight, nine, ten, ele-- oh--
ow, twelve, thirteen.
KRISTER: Final score, 9-8, Zach.
Gold medal goes to Zach.
BETH HOYT: Oh--
ZACHARY GORDON: Thank you.
I'd like to thank my mom for always working with me and you
know, training me to my full potential.
Thank you.
BETH HOYT: Really great job, Zach.
That was really great, really fair.
Thanks, Krister, for--
that.
You guys, that was the game.
That was really close.
Zach won.
That was fair and square.
Well played.
All right, here is one more Olympic moment in My Damn
Channel Live history.
When we get back--
the medal ceremony.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
BETH HOYT: All right, it's time for the medal ceremony.
Someone has to come in last place, our bronze--
Nate, you were really-- you were really the worst at
serving those balls to Zach.
Um, even though he won, but definitely, you get the last
place award.
ZACHARY GORDON: Good job, though.
BETH HOYT: Um, if you could stand a little closer to
this-- thanks a lot for almost ruining that for both of us.
Zach, I'll just give myself this, you guys-- second place,
AKA, you know, it's, you know, the non-winner.
But that's fine.
I'm excited to have been here, anyway.
Zach, please stand up on your podium.
And I will award you this well-deserved gold medal.
Congratulations.
ZACHARY GORDON: Thank you.
BETH HOYT: You did great today.
If we can all stand, our hands on our hearts, as we listen to
the My Damn Channel Live anthem.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
BETH HOYT: Oh, gosh, okay.
Thank you so much for being here, Zachary.
