Cooking Tips : How to Remove Meat from Crab Claws

Uploaded by cookingguide on 27.10.2008

To remove the meat from the crab claw, there's several ways you can do it, first you can
use one of these shell crackers to crack the shell of the crab or you can use the back
of a knife. We're going to use the back of the knife just because this crab claw is so
large. Lay your crab claw down and you want to make sure that you have a steady good hold
on it so it doesn't fly away from you. With the back of your chef's knife, gently tap
it to crack the shell.
Once you do that, you can easily peal back the shell, exposing a good amount of meat. And there's
one crab claw there. There's also meat in these knuckles over here so make sure you
get that out too. Same way, and here we can see the knuckle meat. Last, we're going to
get this last little piece out.
And that is how you remove the meat from a crab claw.
