When you sign up with BigPond, you get your own BigPond email address.
This could be username@bigpond.com or username@bigpond.net.au depending on when you signed up.
If you self installed your BigPond service with one of our Self Install Kits,
the installation CD should have configured Outlook automatically.
If you can find Outlook, try opening it and sending a message to yourself to see if it works.
Otherwise, continue on and follow the instructions to configure Outlook to send and receive your BigPond emails.
Step 1. Launch Microsoft Outlook from your desktop by double-clicking on the shortcut icon.
If it’s not on your desktop, open it from Start > Programs > Microsoft Office > Outlook.
Step 2. In the Outlook menu bar, click on Tools and select E-Mail Accounts.
Step 3. Select ‘Add a new email account’.
Step 4. Choose ‘POP3’ as the server type.
Step 5. Enter your Name as you’d like it to appear, and your Email Address.
In the User name field, enter your full BigPond email address.
Check the ‘Remember Password’ option,
but make sure the ‘Log on using Secure Password Authentication’ checkbox is not checked.
In the Server information section, enter your incoming and outgoing mail servers as mail.bigpond.com.
Step 6. Select ‘Test Account Settings’ to ensure you've entered everything correctly.
If everything has tested ok, you’ll see green ticks.
You can then select ‘Close’ and then ‘Next’.
Step 7. Select ‘Finish’ to complete the setup.
Your Outlook Express is now configured to send and receive your BigPond email.
If you need help using Outlook Express, click on the Help menu, then Contents and Index.
And there you have it. You should now be able to send and receive your BigPond emails using Outlook.
